Also regarding the burial at sea maybe MH can correct me but I think a dead person has to be buried within 24 hours? They offered the body to the saudis but they declined so they had to bury it quick. Failure to do so might have been looked upon as an act of disrespect to Islam, not something they would want after having just pulled out of Iraq.

And as for the hideout in PK, well tbh that's where I have been saying to my mates he has been this whole time.  Look at places like Swat, completley taken over by taliban or al queda. It's a haven for them as they just need to go over the mountains and bingo. If he was going to be anywhere it was always going to be PK.

said in an article I read earlier it was to respect Muslim tradition. But like Bad Bob says, that probably suits the agenda.

and too right the Saudi's don't want the body, I don't think anybody would have his body and have everyone know

no offence, but why bury him at sea? He should be hung drawn and quartered, put up in New York where the towers used to be for people to spit at him

I imagine it is to minimise the reaction to his death by extremist Muslims looking for an excuse to make revenge attacks. Not that they have needed an excuse in the past but by adhering to a proper Muslim burial they won't alienate any moderate Muslims.

Interestingly they made a good point on the news today as to why the conspiracy theorists saying it is a made up American story. Their point was that if the public address by Obama stating the news of the OBL assassination was false he woudl be setting himself up for political humiliation.

OBL had regularly posted videos and audio to various media outlets, proving he was still around. If America were lying, he could simply do the same and thus destroy all American credibility in the story.

I think after such a public announcement it is safe to say it will happen. Almost certainly they'll release more footage and images of OBL after the assassination.

Just four months before America goes into meltdown over the 10 year anniversary of you know what?

No photos, except some really dubious and obvious fakes?

He's been "hiding out" near a Pakistani military compound?

A super quick burial at sea?

Hmmmm...

So whats your point ?

He's been dead for years but the Americans have been waiting for an opportune moment to release the news or he's not dead it's just propoganda designed to boost Obama's ratings ?

If it's the latter whats to stop Bin Laden putting out a video next week holding up the latest editon of the New York Times ?

At a guess I'd say forward planning is not your forte.

How can he do that, if he's been dead for years?

Which according to the CIA a couple of years ago, he was.

In Islam the burial takes place directly after a person dies.

OK so there is no 24 hours thing? Hmm not sure why they said that earlier on the news then.

Thanks for clearing up though.

In most cases they usually wait till the next day because they would want to clean the body, etc... (Islam tradition), but some of them bury the dead directly (if the time of death is early in the morning for instance).
