I like the polls section , maybe as old, boring, none relevant ones are activated us mods just lock them down. But many when fresh have been a great source of amusement and discussion.

Should we keep the poll section ?

I feel a poll coming on .  :D

Good luck to the new mod-guys.  You're going to need it.  Gives me more of a break anyway.

Speaking of which, got back from my little break in the Sun about an hour ago.

I could copy and paste but why should I when there is a quote function enabled on the forum? BM quoted someone from the previous topic and a mod asked him “who said that”. How can there be a well constructed debate with people asking who said what, where and when?

The split is probably a good idea and well worth a try, but why not close the pre-match topic, as soon as the final whistle blows instead of closing the topic several hours after the match has finished, during an on going debate?

You're talking two seperate issues here.

No one is forcing you to cut and paste anything BUT if a thread is locked, it is one method you can use to quote a particular post from a locked thread in another.

Don't see how this is relevant to your initial whinge about a locked thread . Bamaga could easily have credited the quote ,I can only assume  he just couldn't be arsed to do. so. Members should imo always credit a quote when it's not obvious where it stemmed from.

How would I be able to quote someone’s name and post from one topic to another one?

I don’t understand all the technical malarkey, so if someone could give me a short tutorial it would be appreciated.

Its quite simple.

You dont need to quote the whole thing like the date and time it was posted (unless you want to) but it works like this:

[ q u o t e = B r u c e W i l l i s , P u l p  F i c t i o n ] Z e d s '  d e a d  b a b y ,   Z e d s  d e a d  [ / q u o t e ]

If you take out all the spaces above it will look like this:

Bruce Willis wrote:Zeds' dead baby, Zeds dead

So to quote someone just click on the reply icon with hte right mouse button, and select "open in a new window", this way you can copy and paste the quote easily.

NB you need the comma after the posters name so maybe add the thread it was quoted from after the posters name ?
Hope this helps.

Probably much simpler to just add an insult to your post, when the abused poster replies, everyone will know who you were quoting :D

Now you are a mod you're going to explain more than once examples like that. Instead of putting blank spaces to put that example, which I guess it costed you some time, simply use the code tags, mate.

Code: Select all
even if you put [img]image.jpg[/img], what it inside the code tags is not interpreted, so it's nice to use de [code] tags to put examples like that

It's done manually instead of using the quote button.

Code: Select all
Whatever is written between [quote] and [/quote]appears inside a white box

So  you first copy and paste the whole post and then you divide it in chunks putting the mentioned quote tags. You can aswell remove what you don't want to quote, or change it as Judge likes to do.

Code: Select all
[quote]
part 1 of post
[/quote]

Response to part one

[quote]
Part 2 of post
[/quote]

Response to part two

That is seen as

part 1 of post

Response to part one

Part 2 of post

Response to part two
