i object to being called an infidel and i object to the london bombings being trivialised with comments in very poor taste, which in my opinion must have been known they would cause offence when they were posted.

If you were really called an infidel I would back your demand, but you weren't really. MH calling you infidel is as real as the demand of BB to set MH in fire. It's not real.

I felt London bombings as close to my heart as the Madrid bombings, and I wasn't offended even if my country was also punished by the same kind of terrorists.

MH made jokes even when his own city was bombed, and we all laughed. Humour is sometimes needed not to become insane when we face this kind of terror. Although he made humour out of his situation, I had no doubts that he really took seriously the fact that his city was being bombed, and I have no doubts that he hasn't trivialised London or Madrid bombings neither.

Using the pain and the memory of this bombings to back your demand of banning for MH is something I didn't expect, to be honest.

now to the crunch sabre, i dont give two flying funks if you are offended by the word infidel or reference to the london bombs, the fact is that i am offended by the comments and as such something should be done, whether its meant as a joke or not, i am offended, is that clear enough for you?

you guys are clueless sometimes, do you really think when a joke is made about islam the mods dont get a stream of complaints, i havent asked them but i am sure they do, now its my turn to complain about comments that are wholly inapropriate and need to be dealt with rather that just ignored.

to be fair i am the surprised one here when i look at people condoning the comments and laughing about it, go and find a victims family sabre and tell them why its ok to laugh about it with tasteless jokes, when you have done that then come back to me and tell me i am going overboard.

seems we will have differening opinions here, i just hope that both metalhead and zara come to the forum and explain their comments, this something i will like to see as they will then have to admit joking about the bombings, or come up with some lame excuse about these things having a different meaning.

i never mentioned any names mate, read it again before you become defensive, but the fact is that recently we had muslims on this board agreeing with the burning of emabassies, if the cap fits then wear it, if the cap doesnt fit then keep out, thats the best thing to do i think for you in this situation.

however if you wish to defend zaras and metalheads comments then feel free, but i am certain you have more sense than that, as you say, you have kept out of these threads, but i dont have the posters names to hand, or would you rather me refer to them as non christians.

a spade is a spade mate, if the comment was made bu jews then i owuld have said jews, if they were made by buddhists i would have called them buddhists, if the comments were made by christians then i would have called them christians.

to be fair if someone like you came in here and agreed that the commenst were in very bad taste then i am sure others would also be able to see them for what they are

right then - mainly for peewee but i don't mind it being a general comments aswell, hence it not being a PM.

i have absolutely no problem whatsoever in being called an infidel, not as an insult an definitely not in jest. generally it means an unbeliever and in the islamic sense its a little more derogatory. f.uck me, i've been called worse and besides - it's true! i'm an unbeliever, go on - behead me!

there is also a HUGE difference between making statements as humour and as intention to offend. it's funny, peewee, how you are the only one on here to be so outraged. you state that your intelligence and education allows you to see that the comments were meant to offend. to be honest i think that everyone else has applied their own intelligence and education to realise that the comments were harmless (yes - harmless) fun and offense would be out of character for the posters.

there are so many threads on here where people have joked about atrocious events (and i include any terrorist - by any definition - bombing as an atrocius event) and have veered dangerously close to crossing that vague line that divides the humour from distaste. without going dredging through pages and pages of forum archives i believe you have also been involved in making jokes about things which could easily offend, peewee. for someone in a glass house you throw some pretty big stones.

do you really, really believe that zara and metalhead went out intentionally to insult and offend the rest of the non-muslim members on here and to make light of the loss of life in the london bombings or any other? if you do believe that then you are way more paranoid than even i gave you credit for. use your fabled education to think about it for a little while.

In fact, I read racist, sexist, light hearted comments about war and their victims every day in this forum, and I don't start a Spanish Inquisition, because most of them if you put them in context are not harmful.

Meaning, with the rules in the hand and following the rules literally, you should have been banned 5 times.

I remember that thread because I was sickened by the same comments you mention and I attacked those comments aswell. I hardly can put Zarababe's and MH's comments in the same category.

I just ask you not to say things like you'll send photos of the terrorist attacks to back your points.

Because

a) We all saw them
b) The sister of one friend died there. And before you say you don't give a fúck about that, my point is that we all suffered in those terrorist attacks, and you are NOBODY to give moral lessons about that, even less TRIVIALIZE that pain and terror just to make your banning request of this posters stronger.

I have spoke to Metal Head via pm, I was p.issed off over that program but then realised I went way over the top about that topic.

Ive said worst on here in the past I hold my hands up and say I was a bit of a divy for reacting the way I did.

I like Zara and MH and no way should either of them be banned or recieve a warning.

I think one of the points that peewee is making is that once you start accepting racism or attrocities as open topics for humour any racist remarks can be passed off as "just a joke". The second thing to note is ,If I tell a joke about scousers I get slaughtered for sterotyping, a scouser tells a joke about Liverpool and its funny. In otherwords its ok to take the p1ss out of your own but you have to tread carefully when it comes to mocking someone else.

Personally I think it was a poor joke made without any malice or insult intended but I can understand how others might see it differently. As I have said before, a joke about Hillsborough would be "just a joke" but wouldnt be very popular on these boards. Maybe if it had been the Liverpool bombing rather than the London bombing, people would see it differently as well?

f.ucking thick, anyone who thinks that a dodgy joke opens the doors for a barrage of racist, or otherwise offensive comments. following that same logic, the number of gay jokes we have on here should have led this to be the biggest anti-gay site on the web.
