You need time to be a mod and would probably need to be logging on for about 2 hours a day to keep the place running smoothly, and even then you'll get a fair amount of hardship as its impossible to please everybody.

Like John I simply got too busy at work to moderate. Its a job that would suit a student or someone with a doss job that can keep logging in all day at work.

i'm fortunate in that i've been working from home for a while now so i can be on here more than i was before christmas time.

I try mate, but it's simple.  I haven't got the best attention span, I get bored in the house and I like going out.  Even if I'm just driving round, visiting mates, going the cinema etc...

I work for an IT company, it's a hard job and it keeps me busy.  I sit at a PC for eight hours a day and I don't really want to do that again when I get home.  I might have half an hour on here around 17:30 - 18:00pm when I get home from work but I just can't do it hours on end anymore.  My life is my life.  I've been a member on here since 2003.  My life isn't anything like it was back then.  I used to spend hours on here sometimes chatting about Liverpool.  Now I simply do not have the time to devote to this place, three and a half years later.  Things change.

I should be on here a lot over the next few days actually as I'm having a few days off work and I've got nothing planned.  Obviously Saturday I'll probably go out.  But sometimes I can't be arsed.  It's not a job this, it's just a forum I like to visit and the moderator job has diluted my enjoyment of it.  I used to actually post a lot about Liverpool once upon a time.  Now I don't bother as much.

But I won't get involved in moderating threads where I have to judge who's right or wrong on religion or sexism or xenophobia etc...  If a member is taking the piss, and it's clear to me, they'll be punished, (usually trolls and repeat offenders who take most of my time up on here) but I don't feel I'm educated to the point where I know right from wrong over people's beliefs, what will and won't cause offence etc... so I won't act then, becasue it's NOT clear to me.  The other mods know I wont do it neither. 

My point is simple, if it's potentially going to start a riot on the boards, don't come moaning to me, you shouldn't have started the topic in the first place.  Or just do what I do, stay the fuck away from the thread and don't get involved. 

I did get involved in such a thread once on here, there was a big discussion going on about a murdered WPC last year.  I stayed away from it because there were arguments going on back and forth which I had no place to get involved in. 

Then a wanker mentioned something about Scousers putting axes in peoples heads willy-nilly, and also started boasting about how good it made him feel to stab a person. 

That, I was NOT having, so I got involved then.  He got banned very shortly after.

One of the reasons I left was because too much time was spent moderating General Chat, rather than the footballing sections.

The recent uproar over Zara and Metalhead is just a sample of the I used to have to deal with. There are far too many people with thin skins here and it was impossible to keep everybody happy, so I was glad to leave when I did.

I wish I had more time to spend on here as there are many members who I like but the real problem with this forum, apart from the hysteria that goes on in General Chat, is that the football chat and discussion is more often than not moribund and an intellectual wasteland. I mean, there are only so many times you can read a "Who should be buy in January?" thread before getting bored.

i have absolutely no problem whatsoever in being called an infidel, not as an insult an definitely not in jest. generally it means an unbeliever and in the islamic sense its a little more derogatory. f.uck me, i've been called worse and besides - it's true! i'm an unbeliever, go on - behead me!

there is also a HUGE difference between making statements as humour and as intention to offend. it's funny, peewee, how you are the only one on here to be so outraged. you state that your intelligence and education allows you to see that the comments were meant to offend. to be honest i think that everyone else has applied their own intelligence and education to realise that the comments were harmless (yes - harmless) fun and offense would be out of character for the posters.

there are so many threads on here where people have joked about atrocious events (and i include any terrorist - by any definition - bombing as an atrocius event) and have veered dangerously close to crossing that vague line that divides the humour from distaste. without going dredging through pages and pages of forum archives i believe you have also been involved in making jokes about things which could easily offend, peewee. for someone in a glass house you throw some pretty big stones.

do you really, really believe that zara and metalhead went out intentionally to insult and offend the rest of the non-muslim members on here and to make light of the loss of life in the london bombings or any other? if you do believe that then you are way more paranoid than even i gave you credit for. use your fabled education to think about it for a little while.

i dont have to explain myself to anyone and i dont have to defend myself against anyone. the comment by zara was a disgrace and the comment by metalhead was derogatory and offensive.

it is my right to say this, i have said it and its about time someone said it.

equality for all guys, and it does not matter if they meant to cause offence, i dont know why people keep raising that, the fact is they did cause offence, not just to me but judging by the numerous pms i have recieved supporting me i would say it caused offence to others who dont wish to rock the boat in public.

however i know you have a gripe with me after your bumchum karim got kicked off the forum, i suppose that was my fault also you w@nker.

In fact, I read racist, sexist, light hearted comments about war and their victims every day in this forum, and I don't start a Spanish Inquisition, because most of them if you put them in context are not harmful.

Meaning, with the rules in the hand and following the rules literally, you should have been banned 5 times.

to be fair i am the surprised one here when i look at people condoning the comments and laughing about it, go and find a victims family sabre and tell them why its ok to laugh about it with tasteless jokes, when you have done that then come back to me and tell me i am going overboard.

I remember that thread because I was sickened by the same comments you mention and I attacked those comments aswell. I hardly can put Zarababe's and MH's comments in the same category.

I just ask you not to say things like you'll send photos of the terrorist attacks to back your points.

a) We all saw them
b) The sister of one friend died there.
