Right. Here goes...

I am in desperate need of some suggestions for new music on the MP3 player. As a hint of what I like, I've a ton of Paul Weller and The Jam; Pixies; David Bowie; Rolling Stones; ; The Clash.....a lot of that kinda stuff from back then

Recent stuff like The Kooks; Hard Fi; Keane; Ray LaMontagne; Kings of Leon; The Scissor Sisters etc. compounds my eclectic taste in music....

So....I'm looking for something new and preferably "good". Dunno if anybody saw Jools Holland last night, but I even liked Seasick Dave (if that's his name  :;):  )

So, on with your suggestions my faithful friends....

(And a big thank you in advance !)

Try the Enemy (Paul Weller / Jam soundalikes), Dirty Pretty Things (Waterloo to Anywhere is a cracking album), Black Kids and Maccabees.

Also Foxboro Hottubs.

Can't believe I forgot MGMT - you've picked the best songs I think, plus Time to Pretend is a cracking track as well.

going on what you're into, i reckon you'd probably like the Duke Spirit, Editors and LCD Soundsystem. i also can't help but notice there's a distinct lack of black sabbath in your list...

There most definitely IS a distinct lack of Black Sabbath in my list....
Sorry, but not a fan of them, mate....

Thanks for the suggestions by the way - no doubt I'll - ahem! - "source" a few albums on the WWW....

At least these days you don't have to physically buy a 12" or 7" (for the younger readers here, go and Google it and you'll find out what I mean  :D  ), slap it onto a turntable (younger readers again see previous comment in brackets  :D  ) and then realise it was muck after all....

Alternatively, if you have an ipod and itunes, the latest version has something called the "Genius" toolbar, which selects other tracks and artists from it's catalogue that are similar in genre or sound to music in your existing library of music.

You can also then get a 30 second sample of any tracks you choose on the itunes shop.

Used to love Oasis but cant stand them now!
I hate Liams voice now tbh, strange cause i used to adore them and try all their songs on guitar!
Since their first 2 albums every album since has just got worse and the lyrics are pathetic.
I've heard one song off the new one and dont care to here anymore.
Damn shame how they've went IMO! :nod

Aerosmith - Eat the Rich
Kid Rock - American Badass
Andrew WK - Party Hard
Wombats - Lets Dance to Joy Division

I put these and more on my missus' MP3 player. And she deleted them. So I stuck them on my lads MP3 player and he thanked me for messing up his "set" list on it by accidentally pressing random play on it and duly sorted out his list again and deleted them.

Anyway I like them you might not no bugger else does !

Glasvegas - Daddy's Gone
Linkin Park - Shadow of the Day
Muse - Starlight
Oasis - Shock Of The Lightning
Oasis - Waiting For The Rapture
Oasis - Falling Down
The Script - Man Who Can't Be Moved
The Enemy - Away From Here

Also, kudos to me for finding this song, an absolute staple of my youth, that reminds me of the glorious summer of 1994 when I was 14 and used to spend my days playing footy in the park.  Found this on YouTube the other week and ripped the mp3 from it.
