I actually rate Beckham, he may not have the same impact that he used to have but when he is on the ball his quality is obvious.

Andy Cole (when at Man Utd)

I'm gonna go for Chris Hoy. I know he won three gold medals, but how many countries really get behind cycling? How many countries have the training facilities that we have? He's only had to beat the Aussies hasn't he. I feel sorry for the British girl as well. She's world champion in the same three events as Hoy, but the Olympics only have one of those events open for women. She only had the opportunity to win one gold - which she did while Hoy's getting knighted for winning three.

okay - back from pub and drunk but that is when i get my best ideas. the most overrated sportsman is somebody who people think is great but you only think is good etc.


(2) rocky marciano - coincidently also a boxer. retired undefeateed champion but defended against old men like joe louis, jersey joe walcott etc.

Totaly disagree with that one Niall . Although im not old enough to have been around when he fought, I have seen fight clips an listened to what me dad has told me about him an me dad new a thing or two about boxing, An from what ive seen an heard the man is more than a legand he was a warrier . An if he was around to day doing the same thing ill tell you now no.one would wanna fight him. He just kept comming at you with the pounders,  Dont forget he fought at the time when id say fighters could fight, None of this holding for rounds an then just trying to score the odd jab. The man fought one fight with his forehead ripped open,

I agree Nanny, my dad loved his boxing and always said that he was one of the all time great fighters (not boxers). Someone (can't remember who) split Marciano's nose in a fight, and the ref said he was going to have to stop the fight after the next round. Marciano hit the bloke till the only thing keeping the bloke off the canvas was the punches Marciano was throwing, as he made sure the bloke wouldn't be getting up again.
