You might as well give an Olympic Gold to the cast of Les Miserables or Starlight Express. I'm not saying they weren't good at it, because they were from what I can gather, but essntially the whole sport is b0ll0cks.

Give em a stick, some padding, two fireguards as goals and a rubber paperweight as a ball and you got yourself a sport. Failing that, tie one arm behind their backs and get them to lean forward at an impossible angle before having a race and it's a sport. At a push, give them a scooter tyre and a sweeping brush apiece and get them to play bowls on ice and it's a sport. Playing Revels Bollero (sounds like a chocolate to me, always has) over the tannoy though and dancing around a bit doesn't qualify. Even if your erse sticks out so much like that Robin Cousins bloke that you could stand your whisky and coke on it, it makes no odds. Not a sport, so therefore overrated as Sporsmen and women in my book.

Thats one of the worst posts ever. Have you seen what they did to win gold? What they acheived?

Out of all the sportsmen/women in the world you go for one of the most faultless events ever competed in teh history of sport.

Feck me sideways   :D

One of the worst posts ever? Touch   :buttrock

Touch or touche?  :wwww

but seriously, stick to the long posts when you actually have a clue to what you are on about  :pirate

when i went watching the reds in their first away game back in europe, at lahti in Finland, they had three ski jumps just outside the ground, one of them was a dry ski jump and they were practising on that, the game was pap so most of us watched the ski jumping, mate you couldn't pay me enough money to do that, so yes big balls and little brain   :D

I also wholeheartedly agree with Ibrahimovic and Totti.

Both of them have never done it in the Champions League and that pretty much is the acid test for great footballers these days. What is more, they are in the habit of making wild boasts about their ability and what they are going to do, so I always enjoy when they fall flat on their faces.

aCe' you've said this a couple of times now and I just can't see it.  Fair enough, I don't watch Italian football but I have seen a decent enough sample of Zlatan's performances on the big stage, for club and country, over the last five years or so to be utterly convinced he's a big game bottler of the highest order.  Torres, IMO, is head and shoulders above him as a footballer.

As for most over-hyped athlete, it's a really tough call since most athletes who are decent and have enough about them to be marketable are over-hyped relative to what they actually achieve.  My tendency is to look to Olympic swimmers and sprinters.  Impressive as their feats of athleticism are it always seems that the whole Olympics revolve around guys that, through a combination of good training and freakish genetics, can get from Point A to Point B in a few seconds.  At the end of the day, though, they're just going flat out.  They're not also trying to control a ball or get topspin on a return or shake off a tackler or complete a twisting 3 +1/2 reverse somersault.  Not saying what they do is easy, mind you, but it's so singular in what it requires and so brief in its duration relative to all the media attention and fawning it receives. (still enjoy watching these events though :D )

Tim Henman. Always during the summer, wimbledon and all, all you ever heard about was Henman this Henman that. He even had a bloody hill named after him. It doesnt alter the plain and simple truth. HE WAS CACK ! :D

another boxer jumps to mind. jack dempsey - the heavyweight champion of the 1920s who is possibly the biggest star in sport ever (got 1million dollars from gate reciepts in one fight back then).

anyway, he never fought black fighters. whether that was his idea, his manager, or political forces is unclear.

therefore, there is no evidence he was even the best heakvyweight of his time, never mind of all time.

For the past few seasons id agree with that. But then you look at what he could do Pre-United and even on the international stage he was very impressive. For one so young he scared the daylights out of defenders, nowadays, hes not even a shadow of his former self.

you definately have a thing for black men
any boxing fan who thinks of Jack Dempsey as overrated needs to choose another sport  :nod
Back then blacks and whites mostly fought their own. And anyway, he knocked out Jess Willard who had beaten them all.
