Frankie Boyle slams Mock The Week

Controversial comic Frankie Boyle is unrepentant about "offensive" comments which led to a rebuke - and has hit back at BBC Trust criticisms, claiming they were "b*****ks".

The former Mock The Week funnyman also launched an attack on the programme's production team for asking panellists to discuss "light, frothy stuff" instead of serious issues, which he said forced them to "make the comedy more extreme".

Frankie, who has now quit the show, said few people cared about the Trust's judgment that his on-screen criticism of Olympic gold medal winner Rebecca Adlington last year was "humiliating".

In an interview with Time Out magazine today, Frankie responded to the Trust's remarks saying: "It was all b*****ks. Especially, when you consider we're fighting two wars, there's f***ing swine flu and the global economy is going down the toilet.

"People expect you to talk about this - and what do the production team send us? A picture of Rebecca Adlington.

"I mean what are you going to write about... The tracksuits they're wearing? The shutter speed the photographers were using?"

Frankie added: "The No 1 priority in TV comedy today is 'don't frighten the horses', and it's probably No 2 and 3 as well. If you look at the scheduling nowadays, it's all just celebrities meeting meerkats."

Frankie said he left the show because he felt he was "going through the motions".

Gutted I am , loved this guy and show won't be same.BBC have lost the plot I don't think they know what we want as viewers any more "to**ers".  :veryangry

These are Jokes we will miss so fecking funny.

Think the guy is a total fu.cknuckle no.bjockey who only things its funny to degrade people - Russel Howard ,Dara O Brian , David Mitchell and Hugh Punt are far funnier without having to drag themselves down to Boyles level.

He was funny at first but the others have since started to overshadow him and he just went for the shock value all of the time.

I was watching an old episode on DAVE the other night and after that they had Live at the apollo on with him and he was telling the same f*cking jokes, the guy's nearly as bad as Peter Kay for recycling old material!!

I think he's funny personally and the show will be worse without him

as far as his stand up goes, dunnot how long you've been watching mock the week, but every comedian on there uses jokes from their standup routine
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

In fairness that kind of humour is appealling to the lowest common denominator which is fine for the pub but do we need it on national tv?

The BBC has announced new proposals which effectively outlaw cruel and humiliating comedy. Boyle's criticisms echo those of other industry figures, who have warned that the rules are too politically correct.

Oh FFS.

The vast majority of comedy is "cruel" and "humiliating" to somebody.

Boyle is correct. Who are these fuckers?

Its a shame, I liked Frankie Boyles in your face humour, his constant weekly digs a Kerry Katona were hilarious. The only people who should decide these matters though should be those who pay the bloody TV Licence. We are paying for the sodding thing, we should decide what we like and dont like.
