John Lennon, Jim Morrison, the fella from the stones (I presume you mena Keith Richards?) were / are all grounded somewhat in reality.

Wacko Jacko was out there though. Way out there. Sleeping in stasis chambers (hoping to live for 150 years), adopting chimps, dangling babies over balconies, destroying his face with the weirdest of plastic surgey addiction and, eh, oh yeah...sleeping with young boys in the same bed (not that he was a "a nailed on Paedo").

Sorry, but John Lennon, Jim Morrison, the "fella from the stones" haven't a patch on him.

RIP though

Key difference: they all used drugs hardcore and lived the rock and roll mantra. Could you imagine Jacko coming out on stage f*cked off his loaf on acid, booze and whatnot? I think no. Doing things like that is bound to give you a slightly different outlook on things.

which michael jackson song holds up lyrically to imagine?

some people will just go earth song (something about environment, future, children, must be intellectual) .

I think Lennon was an :censored:*ole too but I love his disrespect of authority ( no way he'd have taken a knighthood like mccarthney), and his ambition to put his thought into his lyrics and not just picking cr*p that rhymes with a catcy tune.

Eddie, are you ok? are you okay eddie? you've been hit by a smooth criminal.

Arguably the best artist who more or less introduced music videos to the tv sets of millions with Thriller. Almost five decades of brillance and IMO is the closest thing to modern day Elvis, legend wise. I am not a fan of his, but recognise brilliance when I see it, MJ did a lot for the music industry and was one of the worlds greatest entertainers.

As for the man personally well ....... Its funny to see many armchair revolutionaries in this thread concluding he was a nailed on Paedo. Its quite sad to see their media/press swayed opinions hung draw and quarter a man of which they no very little of. Infact NOT many people actually knew who the real Michael Jackson was and it is quite humuorous to read the armchair revolutionaires view as if it were gospel. I personally think MJ was stiched up for money I don't think he was what many on here have made him out to be. He was aquitted twice I think before the American courts so make of that what you will. Guilty guys are found out innocent granted, but I believe this was an innocent man found innocent of a crime alluded to him to cough up a pay deal. Obviously if the likes of many on here would rather go with the tabloids and media for their own evidence in which to make their assumptions. Not alot can be said then, it is amazing how the media can position the readers of text and print to side with the theory they want the demograhic to believe. Unfortuantely many citizens across social cultures are not critical analyses and therefore cannot think for themselves. If the press say Jackson is guilty or implies, the majority of demographic being the cattle like thinkers they are believe it.

RIP MJ

Hmm, yes. This is all very nicely put, accept for the fact that you are omitting the fact that the man was indeed a space cadet.

John Lennon, Jim Morrison, the fella from the stones (canny think of his name) and many many more celebs were or are "space cadets", what is you're point?

Many artists, entertainers, inventors or any kind of pioneers in their field were often considered a "space cadet," from Van Gough to Einstein to Michael Jackson and back to Salvador Dahli. Many of the worlds pioneers were 'off their nut' so to speak and this world would be a whole lot more mundane without them.  :nod

I'm not one to bullsh*t and write a novel to make a point. Laymen's terms is more my style. So, in order to be known as a genuine genius, you have to be a bit loopy?

In reply to you're question Emerald and in Laymens terms of course.

No.

To Tonyeh, we'l have to agree to disagree.

I don't think Micheal Jackson's music was ever meant to be about great lyrics, it was mostly about the music itself and of course his dance moves. He was an entertainer, not a poet looking for some deep and meaningful line.

I don't agree with the message of the song - but at least it had a message.

I'm not a fan - what was it ? "Anny"?

Setanta had a great skit where the mourinho puppet was reflecting on Nani taking offense to him saying that he looked like michael jackson.

The camera came up close and the puppet said

"Nani, are you okay, are you okay Nani"

Fair enough that there isn't a deep message but some of the lyrics are just nonsense.

Yes it did and at the end of the day he wasn't some dude with a guitar with lyrics that would lead you to depression, he was an entertainer and showman and nobody can deny that he was fucking brilliant at it
