I have known about this family for a very long time. Quite frankly they make me sick to my stomach.

When featured on stupid shows like Oprah and on "Discovery Health and Leisure" they may come across as being sweet and naive, but I assure you that is not the case at all.

They believe in the "Quiverfull" movement which basically rejects all forms of birth control, rejects all forms of feminism and instead advocates that women's sole role in life is to give birth and be under the authority of a husband.

There is also a political and social agenda at work here. Based on the idea that Christians in this movement should have as many children as possible to order to alter population demographics. This will come in handy later when those numerous children influence American politics by becoming lobbyists and activists in things like public funding of creationism in public schools and other religious-based government policies.

Children like the Duggars are home-schooled (and you know they will be taught typical stuff like "God created the world...the stork brings babies....Evolution is false etc...) and are basically shielded from the outside world.


People like Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are building a highly conservative Christian army.

America should be afraid.

Well said Dawson, their DEBT FREE and not living off the welfare which is a lot more than can be said for millions in this country who can't keep their hands out of the welfare pot

the key point here is manhatten's. they're not hurting anyone right now and aren't sponging but look at the mindset that urges them to have this many kids, think of the kind of schooling and future the kids are going to have, and then come back and say its not a problem.

i've no argument with people having a lot of kids if they can provide for them - my girlfriend is one of 11 - but the motives can be questionable. the religious right in the states is growing stronger by the day and is going to be a serious problem in the future as they gain real political power. if we think the religious dogma of today is a global problem just wait and see what will happen in 25 years time.
