MAKING Music!

There are several threads already open about which type of Music people listen to - what they prefer etc...

But this one is going to be about about MAKING Music!!  :idea

If anyone else out there Writes/Produces or plays an instrument, Sings, been on the road...works with computers, has knowledge of Synths/VSTi's/Sequencers/Studio practices/Audio editing/mastering etc...or just is generally interested in the whole subject. Here we can discuss it....

If anyone wants to bounce ideas/swap files or samples/collaborate or just generally offer their two-pennorth feel free. I ask this here (on the off chance) in case there is anyone in a similar boat who would like to use this as a kind of resource for what is an excellent yet time consuming 'hobby'

I occasionally enter some of these 'remix' compo's you find on the web and while they are really great fun...its difficult to get feedback from the other entrants because they are either all too secretive in what they are doing...or they just don't speak English. Anyway, make what you want to of this...its just an idea after all. All kinds of styles welcome....from Tango to Trance. Whhooshhh!

No f*ckin' Recorder players though - or anything that just bangs about on arl pan lids!  :wwww

i've dabbled for years as a laptop twiddler - doing the kind of ambient/experimental electronica that the majority of you would probably hate with a passion. i've never recorded much stuff as it was pretty much always improvised live at the time, though i've done gigs in liverpool, manchester, bristol, london, glasgow, barcelona, huddersfield, melbourne, mexico city, colchester and some other places i've forgotten about.

i mainly used max/msp and a little bit of ableton live.

aha. Do you use anything else andy? Have you used Usine for 'live twiddling'

My usual setup is SONAR 8 with Reason/Recycle. I mention that down to AB.live because a lot of lads use Reason with it on stage etc...

Nothing against that stuff at all - some of it is great listening.
