I realise that, and the problem is that the people put in charge are of a Miltary background and run the country like a dictatorship. Now that America has committed to this war they have to ensure that a sound governemnt is put in place and the country starts to run like a democracy. Their job is far form done, and if America pull out to early it is likely Iraq will plunge into civial war and the insurgents in the contry will take over.

I honestly think a solution for Iraq could be following a simlar path to Yugoslavia by splitting up the country into 3 like they did with Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia. In this case the division seems to be between the Sunni's, Shi'ites and Kurds, so make Kurdistan an independent nation and split Iraq in 2.

great idea but will probably never happen, the goverment that is put in place will be whoever agrees to trade the oil with america that was the whole point of the war. If they dont there hands on the oil what would be the point of the whole thing.

I have just read this bile.These b4stards should be locked up at the very least, kicked out of the country if possible but a good old hanging would suit me better.I know thats not PC. nowadays but I couldnt give a .Its about time people realised whats going on in this country,5000000 illegal imigrants on the streets,its a joke.Anybody claiming Asaylum I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM,with legitimate claimants.Its the process thats ridiculous,any fanatic can come into this country make a claim recieve benefits,while they wait for the outcome,then hang around for another couple of years if they appeal against the decision.Then they just dissapear.The whole process has got to be reviewed if they arrive from a safe country,put them on the next flight back and let there tax payers look after them.If they are legitimate and are really in danger in there own country welcome.
BRITISH NATIONALS who hold radical opinions should not be allowed to spout hatred and call for Holy wars lock them up or better still bring back the death penalty for treason.
The Home secretary should now come out and make it illegal to belong to these radical groups.It is a criminal offence to belong to some factions in N.Ireland.If it takes one potential terrorists off the streets its worth doing.

The conspiracy theory was almost funny (if anything related to this could be), there's always one. I have no time for blair and British or American troops but to believe that is madness.

The muslims will be in for a tough time. I've seen pictures from the 1970s with paddy go home signs and it is understandable, I know people who went to Britain in late 80s and were always stopped at airport, questioned if let their bag down in harrods etc but I believe that is right. I wouldn't have liked it but being Irish I would have been more likely to blow up a building than John Bull from Yorkshire.

While I hope that nobody on this site lost relatives, although in any event some people elsewhere have, I do apportion SOME of the blame on blair, I mean you can't kill 100,000 innocent iraqis and not expect an atrocity like this.

I fear that there isn't that much that can be done, how can you check every bag on every person in the country?

Seems like the only option to me, although could cause major hold ups with millions of people using it every day carrying all sorts of harmless metal objects. If it had happened in America they would put metla detectors on the tube or their equivalent for sure though.

but splitting korea in 2 hasnt worked. and the fact that india and pakistand are 2 seperatre countries doesnt really make things any more peaceful. its way too complex for me to work out on a friday evening

splitting Ireland hasn't been a resounding success either.

I think the Israel/Palestine situation must be resolved, aid given to palestine to bring its wealth on a par with israel. US to pull out of Iraq ( I don't believe on forcing democracy on people of a different culture).

You cannot defeat terrorism, its fairly easy to do the odd outrage, 9/11 was 19 men with boxcutters FFS. You have to deal with the cause, Northern Ireland still isn't a great spot but it is better than 15 years ago as both governments were willing to talk to people they hated. I mean the IRA nearly killed much of Thatchers government but Major was still willing to talk to them.

I agree that the war in iraq is as "holy" as thoes terror attacks but you all need to understand one thing... metal detectors and a guard at every piblic place (cofees, bars, movies, schools etc) is a nightmare... you need to fight terrorism with terrorism.
