Apparently she commissioned some interior designer to immortalise her in 10 Downing St. In one of the rooms apparently, there is a representation of a "thatcher" (i.e. a bloke who thatches roofs and buildings) 'built into' the plasterwork, I think it is in one of the corners of the ceiling plaster.
And Cherie Blair did something similar with a wood carving of bees....can't remember exactly where in the house it is, presumably on a staircase..
A totally useless fact for the day, but even though they're gone, their sense of self-importance is there for generations to see...

okay im gonna be the ignorant american for the day, and ask why the majority of the populace here hate margeret thatcher?

i mean, world history class and whatnot was a couple of semesters   ago but i always held the notion that she was a pretty popular political figure.

I think in summation this is primarily what the nasty old harridan is synonymous with ,well that and the vendetta she waged against the Liverpool Dockers ,how she  irrefutably refused to deal with terrorists and would not be swayed by such intrusions such as the collapse of the North west and the mining communities she single handedly destroyed ,and lets not forget the Riots ...........yes she evokes some truly splendid memories

But in her defence she was a strong old battleaxe

She privatised a lot of British companies like BT, BA, British Coal, British Rail, British Steel, etc.

She broke the unions and changed the laws governing them

She allowed council tenants to buy their house

She brought in Channel 4 and S4C

The Falklands War

She said there was no such thing as society

Stuffed money down the throats of supporters.

Privatised this and that.

We're never gonna agree, but since Labour has taken over EVERYTHING is worse. Its worse for everyone apart from the unemployed or those from other countries... I might just quit my job, find a slag and have 5 kids, id be loaded...
