Locking and cleaning up threads

I think its a great idea to temporarily lock and clean the threads up. In the Badbob Match info thread, it has worked really well for quite a while now. If it can get us to keep more on topic and promote better discussion I am all for it.

I think once we get used to the idea, problems like Owzat had will disappear and people will adapt.

fingers crossed it seems like a good idea (hopefully not just at the time)

My one suggestion would be if someone has made a lot of effort to write a long post that is off topic and would normally be deleted i.e. Mick surprises everyone and mentions rotation in a thread, maybe they could be offered the chance to copy it to a more suitable thread.

don't think it would be to much of a problem to shut up shop for a short time so there could be a clean up

i think it could help a great deal with getting rid of the rubbish that does not need to be on here, like judge :D :D

no think it's a good idea mate

actually graham, i started an excellent thread relating to the first round proper of the champions league - only for an infiltrator to start a part two thread on the same subject.

needless to say mine was locked !!. It doesnt matter if its the second leg - my thread was dedicated to the whole first round which included both matches!!

anyway, if another poster had set up that thread - it would still be open and the infiltrators closed. imo

i understand graham that your post is tongue in cheek mate, however, i have a point that is valid :blues:

I have a feeling most people on here would appreciate regular thread clean ups. Obviously it would be difficult during matches but afterwards it would be fairly simple to undertake.

I can't be the only person to be frustrated at writing a long or thoughtful post about the particular topic only to have it pushed 3 pages back by squabbles, flippant comments or repetitive posts. Someone deleting them would be appreciated!

my post wasnt meant to funny sabre.

yes, i mess around and have a laugh on here, but at times i do post quality threads - the cl one is an example - that aside means that those threads should stay and not be locked.

in england we say sarcasm is the lowest form of wit!!

perhaps you'd like to explain what part of my post was funny? only out of interest of course, and nothing more than that

it was only a thread. is it REALLY so important to you that your name was at the top of it? is that what gets you out of bed in the mornings?

ya i know your thread got locked i thought i was a good idea to keep it all in one thread but others thought different that won't get changed now

i'm not sure that it was done just because it was your thread just that who ever it was thought it would be better to have a new thread for the second game! different people different thinking
