Well then, on principle, stop breaking the law with your look at me in my suped up escort I have a little di.ck car with shi.tty writing for the reg plates, conform to the laws of the roads in this country and pay your fuc.king fine.

Am I the only one who thinks this is the worst post this year? and from a mod no less. Theres nothing wrong with customizing your car, and a different font is very harmless when compared with someone who is drunk and kills a kid. Most people like to keep there car waxed, or smelling fresh inside. Conforming to the laws of the road in this country means you'll be punished more for petty little crimes rather than the more serious ones.

ok here is what you do, (but bare in mind I am going back a few years here).

when we used to give fixed pens for various things some people would write to the ticket office without making the payment initially, they would basically write their defence in a letter.  This would then be forwarded to the officer who gave you the ticket for him to reply to as to why he wants the ticket to stand.

sadly most are too busy to bother responding so generally the ticket is scrapped, however if he responds you will end up paying the ticket or choose to go to court, in court your defence is weak mate, the fact you are on a private car park is not that good, the magistrate will just ask if your car flew there and you were never on the road to get there, but then they can always produce cctv to show the plates on your car on the road.

So lets say he goes to court and is at fault, could he then sue the company who made the plates with the different font for the business they are in therefore making him a criminal?

Leon, it's a well known fact that men who criticise the penis size of another men are usually covering up their own little secrets. I bet you were gutted when you registered on here and someone already had the name Peewee  :D

For your information, I've changed the font on my reg because it spells out my name perfectly, with the number 6 looking like a lower case B instead of a G.

Note to Kharzaz - well spotted, the red writing and that.
Note to everyone else - thanks for the advice, I think I'm just gonna swallow my medicine and pay the fine. I still think they had no right to do it though and I would have a case.

pay it mate , not worth the time and hassle. There might be a chance that you might even have to pay more if you lose the appeal , now would you want that , take this as a learning experience

I would go to court with it, like you said they would have to prove you actually drove in the car park with the plates fitted and to be honest do you really think they would bother to chase up C.C.T.V images of you driving the car ?

With a letter to the ticketing office I doubt if it will actually go any further once they realise that you are not just going to bend over and take it !

I got a letter through saying that I had threw a cig dimp out of my car window whilst at traffic lights, apparently some council worker was parked next to me at the lights when I did it, I basically said prove it and have heard nothing since.

You could say that you put the plates on in the car park to see how they look, to get a picture of them on the car or any other excuse you can think of to get away with it ? Like I said the chances of them actually taking it as far as court are very slim, my littering fine was going to be 250.00 by the way ???

You're gonna have to consider what you written on here too...... it's in the public domain so it could be used as evidence against you, especially the part where you say you carry legal plates in the boot in the event that you get stopped......!
There's nothing like a full admission that you knew you were doing wrong and still went ahead anyway...!!

People keep novelty plates for car shows, private events etc., or just purely for the novelty of keeping one. In answer to your question - obviously not.

Personally, I don't see the point in them.

In this case, he's admitted he broke the law, he must face the consequences.

But the law is the law.

It's a £30 fine - hardly a life-changing amount. I think a drunk kiddie-killer might get a little bit more, don't you?
