In between

Please use this forum for general Non-Football related chat

I spkoe to a couple of people over the last week, both good reds and both interweb lurkers/posters on a few Liverpool forums.

I asked them which they preffered, but I wont go into that right now.

I asked if they knew about this gaff and they said yes.

One said he didnt like it cus it was dead and the other said he didnt post much cus it was in between. I asked what he meant and he said its set up as a well moderated forum, lots o sections for various discussion, but not moderated aggresively enough. He said it might as well have one section as its not worth having loads when no-one posts in the others.

Fair points I thought.

For me if you are going to have a foum, you need to make a decision. do you have one section whre anything goes or do you have lots of sections and moderate it well enough to keep teh chat in those areas.

I think people who run this site need to make the decision.

I think it will increase the membership and action on here if that decision is made and therfore in turn help with the clikcthrough and adsense revenue to make the site not need donations.

I for one think I would post more if there where clear parameters that everyone including the moderators knew, understood and adhered to.

I'll have a word with benny.

:D

I agree on most parts though. The transfer rumours section is worthless as everyone just posts in the general discussion.

Possibly we could make use of the other sections by JUST discussing games in the games section.

However I don't agree this place is dead. This place for me has the best set of core members out there and its not overly populated like the others were loads of different conversations are going on in one thread (like rawk and raotl).

Not ar.se licking BUT

You should be a mod then leon, you've been here ages, you know the script and as you seem to want to change for the better you have that fresh impetus.

However after the shambolic display last night we got new mods (not there modship) I highly doubt ss and co would want to risk being burned twice.

Think there should be at most 2 or 3 sections to be honest.

everyday bullsh*t.
Liverpool FC matters only.
and something else like Football in general....

maybe its just me but i have looked at the sub-forums here and find myself only posting in gen.discussion or general chat, cannot be ars.ed to be clickin away through every forum even though i have visited them, most are dead.
Having alot of sub-forums makes it look more "professional" i guess, whether thats appealing to people i do not know.

As far as the moderating goes, i havent really got caught up in all that to be honest or paid much attention to it....i believe if u act like a pr.ick then u should be seen to...but mostly i post here and visit this and other forums to find out about whats happening with LFC. 2 pence. done

Not a knock on the OOT'ers , but we do lack a genuine scouse base on here as well.

I agree with that and I myself am an ooter. I'm increasingly findng myself on RAOTL (reading, haven't signed up as of yet) as you get a better insight and perspective into certain issues - namely RTK, Block 1892 etc. Loads of regular matchgoers and proper reds who know the score. This place is better for in depth footy debate though.

Hard to comment as I rarely go on other sites , would say however that the looseness with which this forum is moderated is in my opinion a major plus . The mods on RAWK are so far up their own a'rses I'm suprised they don't just have their own private site (maybe they do  :D ) .

As for the issue of the number of sections , I fail to see the problem .

I think newkit needs to evolve. Little things that other forums employ like banning posters from creating new threads until they have at least 100 posts and locking down the forum on matchdays to only one thread. These small restriction help moderate and organise the forum automatically.

I also think it would be worth having more sticky threads on common topics like "Where/How can I get LFC tickets..."

Good idea's , although on the new threads issue I'd go for time served rather than number of posts made , any hack can bang out a hundred posts in a couple of days .One month on the forum before you can start a thread would clear/deter a lot of dross.

Agreed.

I also agree with Rafa.D that this site could do with a few more Scouses on it.

In large though I think this site is very good.

Hmmmmmm ...... dunno.

Mikes would probably be ripped from Rawk, thus giving Newkitt a bad name.  :D

And you Judge you've just posted the same thread three times, you dont seem capable anymore, old age possibly ?  :D

So that really only leaves Woof and Ciggy. I'd give anything for Woof to start a thread on his personel experiance when he 'Sha.gged a one legged Vietnamise hobbit on the tour of duty'.

when people start saying it not old age you just know it is!!  :D

as for the need for less section then ya i think i would agree with that as there seems to be a lot of topics that are covered in two or three sections at the same time and if there were less this might ( and i only say might ) stop a lot of this

yes i know some people should know better and not do it but sometimes other threads just get turned in to a thread about something that is already on here and this needs to be stopped

i know i have not been a member for as long as a lot of you on here but i have found there are parts that i just don`t go on as there is nothing new in that section

but then there will be people who say but i like to use that part and then you get to who wants what more??
