Looks a bit like that Paul Sharner from Wigan. Good player he is if it is him. I've seen some stories that we may be interested in him on a free. I think if it's true, I can confidently predict he won't be the worst player who's played for us over the last few seasons. A good pro and a good player.

Better get in there quick before Chelsea. Man U, Arsenal and all those other teams with CL ambitions come sniffing after him.................... Oh wait a minute  :idea, they will of course be looking for a bit more than just a good pro/player.

No doubt they do look for a bit more than that Woof, and who can blame them. I bet they all were looking for a bit more than that when we picked up Gary Mac on a free too. We won three trophies that year (jeez them were the days). Paul Sharner is a good player, whoever signs him is getting a very good performer.

I know where you're coming from Mick.

He's a decent player, always gives a 100% and a bit of a nutter if you ask me, a quality some of us may appreciate but a Gary Mac  he certainly isn't, although I'd be delighted to be proven wrong I don't think I will be.

tbh I doubt man u/chelsea / arsenal would have gone after El Zhar, Degen, Voronin etc.

We dont have any money, and beggers can't be choosers.

Scharner is not going to be a first 11 player (thank god), but he will be useful back up, especially if mash leaves and we also need a striker and another left back as our main priority.

Fair point mate. Out of interest, does anybody think Sharner is better than any of El Zahr, Voronin or Deggen? Or is he better than all of them?

I know what I think.

They are all sh!te aswell but they are squad players, the thing is we will be selling our world class Argentine captain and replacing him with a Wigan player who's not very good.

This is a serious knock to our aspirations of finishing in the the top four...... Paul Scharner has done for  Midfield dynamics what Josef Fritzl, has done for family values

Don't know Mick, have never watched Scharner when he played as a striker or right back.

its not a direct replacment though. instead of a midfield of mash - lucas we'll have lucas - aquilani. Scharner will be on the bench as  back-up, just as elzhar, degan etc was.

i agree completely that he's not good enough for us for a first 11 place, and that we should be looking at a hell of a lot better quality players, but thats the board for you. I think he's a fairly useful player, on a free, that can do an okay job when required. (much like our aforementioned freebies)

That does not mean that we should sign him...there are a hundred players better than them 3 in the prem who would jump at the chance to play for LFC...sure why not take all the best players from the shi'te prem teams,we could look in the championship too and become another Everton!

Fuc'k sake last season you were wanting Mourinho hear to dominate the world now you reckon some guy with a haircut that looks like a rooster who has got a drunken barber should come...is he gonna improve the team? ....NO

We dont need squad players mate,we need to ditch about 9 players and bring in 3 with 3x the quality since we have no funds.Sadly with the world cup(which may I add was the worst ever I have watched) we wont have time to do all that!

The club are getting rid of Lucas, Insua, Mascherano wants to leave and Gerrard will probably be a RM player within the next few weeks, so this fella if he comes will be in our starting line up.
