How can i know the type of audio device in my PC.
I've just formatted it and installed the OS but i do not have the drivers for the motherboard(misplaced) and the sound card is integrated with the motherboard.
In device manager i see a yellow icon saying 'unrecognized audio device'.
On the motherboard,the sound card has no label indicating its make.
How do i know the type/make of the sound card so that i can download its drivers?

search "unknown device identifier"

It's a simple, free software that will tell you what's the real chip you have not only in your sound device, but any other unknown device.

A must have

Relax Mudface , we got some real prima f'uckin donnas in here you'd think their contribution to the footy section was of vital importance or even interest (lol, Sabre's ok though) , but yeah you should have known to stick this in gen chat to begin with .

Its most likely an AC97 standard and you can simply go to the manufacturer of your motherboard's website and download their audio driver.

You should also download their chipset driver as well.

Strange that you should claim to have the marvelous and cunning IT powers to hack this website and yet ask a relatively simple and straightforward IT question.
