We have muslims now in Ireland too but so far everything has been fine and I think it will continue to be so as long as they don't ask us to change how we do things (ban st patricks day as its a christian event!)

I think minorities in england would be better off if none of that stuff was banned as banning it really winds up people. I do believe that if a country's culture offends you then you shouldn't go there/stay there.

Spot on. If you don't like it, then leave. If a person is not going to show respect to the mainstream faith of the country where they have aquired residence, then I think they should go to a country that suits there needs and not the other way round. Good luck over in Ireland mate.

Lee J wrote:Do you know there is a school in Bradford that Christian's are NOT allowed to attend? It used to be a mixed race school but the Muslim community called for a ban on Christian children attending so it's a Muslim only school now.

Thats what pisses me off.

Racist? My ase. If anything Muslims are the racist ones! (but not all of them)

Nice to see the regulars with their typical views on anyone 'different' from themselves.

As for the above qoute you ar just choosing that as it suits you, but to redress the balance, I went to an all boys CATHOLIC school, that did NOT allow any other religion to attend the school. See that, one religion, one sex!!!

So dont act as though it is just Muslims that do it.

I really dont understand you lot, 'whats this got to do with  LFC', well correct me, is this not a GENERAL chat section, not LFC general chat section?

Also, the guy who started the thread was making a nice gesture to all muslims that may frequent the site, thats all!
He wasnt spouting rhetoric or whatever, just wishing people 'Eid Mubarek' which isbasically the same as saying 'Happy christmas and a happy new year'.
Yet certain people use the thread as a reason to complain about this, that and the other.
And you wonder why muslim people may choose to stay amongst their own at times, because if I was Muslim, I would probably do the same, seeing the way people are acting here.

Why should they emmerse themselves into a society that clearly harbours a grudge (for whatever reason) and doesnt seem too welcoming from first glance!!

And for those that say 'if you dont like it, leave' the same applies for yourself, you are no more British (IMO) than a muslim person born and bred in this country (asylum seekers and immigrants aside of course!).

I will be celebrating Eid tommorow, a month of fasting has past and I too wish fellow posters, who are Muslims Eid Mubarak (happy eid).. just as I have wished many on here a happy xmas/christmas when that festive time of the season has come up, even though it is not something I celebrate.

This forum is used by people from so many diffrent backgrounds, traditions, beliefs and nationalities, that's why we all have duty to post responsibly. It's not egg shells is being responsible. Discontent with political correstness (for which I too have a loathing) is not an excuse for biggotted reactions.

I have not talked about my heritage or my beliefs on here cos this is a football forum, however some of the opionions experessed on here have truly shocked me.. If you don't give a :censored: then why are you posting in this thread? Eid is a worldwide event celebrated by billions,  just cos u don't care or understand it's relevance does not give u a license to post abuse in relation to a religious celebration.
THE BRENDAN REVOLUTION IS UPON US !

KING KENNY.. Always LEGEND !

RAFA.. MADE THE PEOPLE HAPPY !

Miss YOU Phil-Drummer - RIP YNWA

So tell me Wrighty, what IS the mainstream faith in England?

I dont see many people that are religious and follow their faith by the book.
However, people do seem to worship Alcohol a lot!

Please enlighten me!

drummerphil wrote:I personally have nothing against Asians indeed one saved my life recently,i do however agree that the country has gone political correct mad.You get idiots in every walk of life but all muslims shouldnt be tared with the same brush.I recently was in hospital and in the next bed was a young asian lad about 17 he said his aim in life was to visit Mecca, which i replied it isnt that hard to get into a bingo hall, which he laughed off. Also Liverpoolanytime sent me a nice pm a few weeks back and wished me all the best (dont take it personally i didnt reply,i didnt quite know what to say i was a bit shocked but thankyou).I would like liverpoolanytime to express his feelings towards what we have said and whether he thinks we are being racist or correct in our right to want all this political correctness to be watered down a bit before Great Britain loses its identity.

Hi Phil,
I replied on this thread (see above) so that will probably clear up my general thoughts on this thread/issue. However, if you have any specific question/s you want to ask me, feel free!

Also, may I ask, WHY you were surprised that I PM'd you? What did you think it was only 'white' people that cared about others or something? (befoe anyone starts its a JOKE)

As for political corretness, it does need to be toned down, ie; the flying of the St. Georges flag, that of course should be allowed (yet I understand peoples concerns, as noone can deny that the BNP did hijack the flag for their own political beliefs!).
BUT, also, I think a lot of people use the 'political correctness' (at times I stress) as an excuse at times. I mean there are certain things that should not be said, but just the main things.
Blackboards and 'backslash' as G-mac talked about yesterday is just over the top and completely stupid IMO!!

But just to go back to the 'MOBO' point, also made by G-Mac (a good friend I hasten to add :D as I'm about to disagree with you here G!).
MOBO (for those who dont know stands for 'Music of Black Origin'). I dont think this is a problem really, its just that in general black music is not as recognised by other award ceremonies (which are prodominently white based) and this comes down to sales really.
A lot of people (white, though a huge generalisation I know!) do not listen to or buy 'black' music, so therefore it will not be voted for and then talent can slip by without getting the props that it often deserves.

This doesnt (IMO) come down to a black/white thing really (though on the face it seems so) as many 'white' artists are recognised and win awards at the MOBO's.

Believe me if there was a MOWO, majority of 'black' people wouldnt take notice, as it doesnt really interest them and leave it be.
The MOBO's is just catering to a somewhat niche market in Britain, just as 'The New Nation' and 'The Voice' are newspapers that cater for the different interests and needs of the black community. Example, the 'Mirror' or even say 'Cosmopolitan' do not market their products for black people or even sell products for them. Example; Black people have Afro hair, yet, mags like Cosmo,Hello or even Mens Health etc; do not carry ads for afro hair care products, but people still need to buy these things, and seen as the mainstream seem disinterested in their readership (shown through lack of relevance to black people) then black people have to make their own products to cater for their needs and community!! It is not about race at the end of the day, but a need to have products/services that people actually need and/or can relate to.

BTW, Drummer, I found that 'Mecca' joke funny, and my dad is Muslim.

Also here is a point for you guys, I am Catholic and my dad (who is and has always been around) is Muslim, if that isnt intergration (also considering my mum is white and scottish/irish) then I dont know what is.
You see, you CANT label all people the same!  And thats what (IMO) a lot of people on this forum tend to do.
