fair point, the American Public have suffered as a result of a political sytem that has angered the Arab public. Innocent people have died (Sept 11th) largely due to America's policies on the Israel/Palestine issue.

cheers lfc1

however, it is not totally due to usa policy on israel/palestine. its due to the fact that USA stopped funding bin laden and saddam etc, that they got pis'sed off.

which is why these nutters flew aircraft into the towers. its not always what the papers say you know.

ive been there in 1990/1, so i have some idea scott

all the best anyway

true, the terrorist attack had more political incentive, but your average arab person (I have quite a few Islamic mates) is largely anti-US because of their support of the Israelis. The liberation of Palestine is probably the biggest issue in the Arab world.

Manhatten, where the twin towers WERE located, also has a large Jewish population, so this could've been a reason why the WTC was targeted.

possibly mate.

much of the ARAB world dont recognise Israel, so thats why they hate jewish folk. Remember Egypt recognised Israel after there conflict over Sinai, and look what happened to their president Sadat - he was assasinated

i know of ARAB feelings towards USA and jews, i lived in Luxor for a while, so have some insight into their belief system and reasoning etc.

religion and religious belief has been the causative factor behind many wars, coupled with local prejudices etc, unfortunately this will never cease. But the worrying factor is the extremists, how can they justify their actions using GOD as the driving force.

its an insult to religion

indeed it is, what they preach is absolute :censored:! Their actions have no real sanctioning by the Quran as they claim.

they believe that the Americans have destroyed their religion, and therfore have called a Jihad on the US - this is their reasoning. But as you say to kill innocent people who have nothing to do with it in the name of their God is indeed an insult to their religion, and any islamic person respectful of their religion will be completley against what these terrorists are preaching/doing.

wow this is quite an intelleigent bit of chat.. am in the right forum  :D

.. Islam literally means peace.. it is therefore ironic that those who justify using the religion to commit muder do so in the name of the religion... Islam does give the right of self defense Jihad.. but there are special conditions associated with it..

.. it is also ironic that Bush conducts his murderous campaign on the basis of an evangelical agenda.. propelled by his brand of righteousness..  :Oo:

Religion is used to justify.. but this argument masks more sinister tendancies which are associated with prejudice, hatred .. human nature.. the urge to destroy... dominate.. control.. POWER...  :oh:

People are the same the whole world over, Im a cathjolic look at what the IRA used to do  , I dont agree with our troops in Iraq cause of one idiotic man, now thousands have been killed cause :censored: bush said he wanted a war.
Every day 100s more are being killed cause of Bush starting this whole thing, and I dont think most of our soldiers want to be there ffs, 2 years now and its no where near over.
Terrorists, serial killers all the same all crazy mofos, but they are from all walks of life, I am embarressed by what the Klu klux clan used to do, but cause im white i dont class meself the same as these crazy :censored:

But people from every nation, religion and every nationality have the same problems.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

.. with respect .. you wanna take out one man and his cronies.. you don't annihalate a whole blo**dy country.. the smokescreen was of WMD.. not one found..

...I'm all for getting rid of the despots and dictators.. but iraq was uncessary.. this was Bush fullfilling what his Dad failed to do in 91... they could have taken Sadam by installing special forces etc.. they've done it before..

.. the reality is that  Iraq was bombed in to the stone age in the first war.. the second war compounded the problems and now aid agencies predict over a million children are dying, desease and malnutrition are widespread.. has it realy been worth it.. ???

.. my question is.. who will stop that despot sitting in the White House.. elected to keep his crazy 'gun-ho' finger on that button.. by a numb-skull electorate.. half of whom don't even have passports.. and until he first got elected.. he himself had never left the US of A  ... :( what does he and they know about respecting the  sovereignty of other nations and cultures.. :(

try some perspective people. saddam was responsible for killing 6000 innocent kurds using mustard gas, plus tousands of his own citizens.

now, call me wrong, but isnt that just a little bit illegal also.

folk always go on about america, but let me tell you, the problem in the middle east has been brewing for some 500 years, long before USA became a country. everyone at some point has their time. thank god we have the capability to protect ourselves from these idiots.

i am not saying i was in total favour of war in Iraq, but am in favour of removal of one of the most dangerous persons on the planet (bye bye mr hussain).

anyone on this forum who lives in this country, or even works for our government should be 100 per cent behind us now, especially our brave lads out their now

i hate fuc'king folk who criticise things they know nowt about. you know why, coz its easy, thats why

i salute our brave boys over there

The whole middle east question is about power and contol . The Palestinian question is very much a secondary issue (although admittedly not to those that live there) . The real battle is more about who controls the flow of OIL from the middle east. Stop for a moment and reflect on what it would be like if the fanatics who blow themselves and other people up were in charge of 80% of the worlds known oil deposits . They would effectively control the world and it's economy . The present governments of the major oil producing countries may be little more than despots, they are however inclined towards the west and are fairly happy to preserve the present status quo.
Many of us despise and ridicule what America and it's allies through the offices of George "Doubleya" Bush have done but lets not lose sight of the possible alternatives .
For example ,The West removes all troops from the Mid East and adopts a policy of non intervention .Within a decade all the current governments and so called "Royal Houses " have been overthrown and replaced by Taliban style rule. They now unhindered turn their full attention to Isreal . Lets go the whole hog here and fast forward to the point were the world (usa included) threatend by a complete shut down of oil supplies has agreed to a complete embargo on all trade with Israel . After a few years of Israel becoming progressively weaker the "fundamentalist islamic" states now decide to settle things once and for all through military action. With both sides now in possesion of nuclear weapons and both also being equally fanatical and capable of using them .................
I guess you can write the rest for yourself.

As the saying goes ,"one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter"
Yeah, Bush and the USA are considered to be terrorists by many people ,and not all of them are muslims, he is however a terrorist who at least is on our side . That doesn't make it right but until we are blessed with leaders on BOTH sides of the "conflict" who have the will to settle things over a table instead of a battlefield it's something we have to live with.  :(
