It lots of American fantasy "allocations" there is usually a live event and the online automatic choices are only done for the teams whose owners are not logged on, its the easiest way to ensure that your club has proper balance and that your first 4 picks are not all defenders.  Because there is no real way of controlling what position you choose unless you put ALLL the forwards that you rate at the top but then you would chose a second rate forward when there would still be a top rate midfielder on the board.  And if you do the logical thing and make a list of the top overall footballers then you leave it up to chance and it just may happen to be that the top player still available is a defender for the first 4 selections.  Oh well, I guess because it allows unlimited trades in between teams it will work its way out naturally in the market of teams with a surplus of defenders trading for a team with a surplus in attack.

Also, I couldn't tell from reading the rules but is the table based on an accumulation of points over the year, or like American fantasy, do our clubs play fantasy matches against the other clubs in the league and whichever club finishes with the most fantasy points get the win?

When I set up the league, I didn't know how popular it would be. So I set the date a long way off, giving the league a chance to fill out. I thought, if things were going slow, i could bump it up again after the start of the league and more people would be interested. Quite frankly, I din't expect it to be as popular as it has been. Unfortunatly, when the league filled up, I was no longer able to alter the date and bring it forward to the start of the season.

So we're stuck with the draw date. But, as I was saying in a previous post, this might be beneficial. If someone big moves to the premiership in the latter stages of the transfer window, you can move them up your list early. And if someone is really impressive on the opening weekend, you can alter the list to accomodate them. I guess we have to make the best out of a situation that perhaps isn't the best. Anyway, the 16th will be here soon enough and we've all got other fantasy leagues to be concentrating on.
