I'm thinking of going to Cologne for a few days early next year. I know plenty of scousers stayed in Cologne for the Leverkusen game last year, anyone on here been? Any recommendations on hotels, bars, things to see etc? And is there any flange there?

When were you thinking of heading over Woolly? I'm going over for 3 weeks in Feb, staying with mates who live in Bonn. Karneval starts on the 15th Feb - it's like Oktoberfest but in Cologne, heaps of drinking and flange!

Haven't really checked Cologne out tbh, but a must see is Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom)

Cologne is a great city. I lived in Germany for 2.5 years and I have to say it's a beautiful country. The birds are good looking, tho' most could do with shaving their arms and armpits. If they could do that, and maybe ask all the German blokes nicely to please leave the country, the place would be even better ! There are some great microbreweries in Cologne - try the local Koelsch (it's kind of an ale but tastes great, and guaranteed no hangover !). It's a big university town so loadsa young people. Not a great pub scene 'cos the Germans don't "do" pubs as such.....Have a laff, mate....

Yeh Koelsch is great stuff!

As for Pubs, you're probably right. Bonn has got a few, der Stachel in the Altstadt is good, and my mates frequent it cos they know the owners and one or two of them work there as well.
