I indicated that I was aware of how the cycle played out once you had this "given" of having Western military forces over there. I just don't see why that is a given.
I certainly do not buy any arguement that would say it is neccessary for military forces of the US gov't to protect the waters of the Persian Gulf in order to safeguard the oil supply. Most of the oil consumed in the US does not even come from the Persian Gulf. 2nd, if corporations want to do business in that area, they should pay for security themselves if they see that as neccessary. Also, the sellers of the oil are equally, if not more interested in keeping the supply lines open, and with all the money they make, should also have the means of maintaining that supply line.
