Sounds like a redirect virus.

Update your anti-virus and spyware scanner and start a system wide scan.

I would install and run -

Spybot Search & Destroy (download here)

I never needed anything but Spybot.

But one other useful tool is McAfee SiteAdvisor (download here). It will warn you before clicking on a google link whether the website is safe or not. Hopefully preventing any future incidents of a virus being downloaded to your machine.

Cheers mate, I've run the spybot and deleted loads of malware/cookies, not sure yet if it's made a difference, (won't know till I start a session of googling stuff ).

The McAfee SiteAdvisor sounds more than useful, thanx for the tip.

Yeah, that sounds like a re-direct bot problem.

Cause: surfing porn and warez sites!  :D

We've all been there

Woof, if you use internet explorer, and it's a recent version, you might want to go to the menu tools->Internet Options->Advance Options Tab, and press the "reset" the explorer button, it will leave IE as the first day you installed it.

For antimalware software, try malware bytes

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

The free version was able to remove some bugs other programs couldn't.

Also, don't use Internet explorer, it sucks. Use firefox, opera, safari or chrome.

I've been using firefox for some years now.

Googled some stuff this morning and twice I ended up on a site other than the one I expected.

Cheers Sabre, I'll try running that http://www.malwarebytes.org/.
