Hi guys, just a quick goodbye, I don't really feel the need to post anymore cos most of the new topics have been posted a million times before and can't be a55ed to read the same ****** by new users, plus all these alter ego's are p1ssin me off

Paul, if you're serious and you are leaving, I know what you mean mate, most of my own posts these days are nothing to do with Liverpool. 

Of course, not to take it too seriously, I'm doing my own head in.  All I post is utter $h1te.  I come on here through habit only now.  I remember I couldn't wait to log on here once upon a time to read about Liverpool, now I find there's nothing to keep me here half the time.  Maybe I got rid of my demons when Gerard Houllier left. 

I came on here originally as a protest and to let off some steam because I was SICK of the way we were playing at the time.  I just wanted to talk to someone about it, now I have, it's end of chat. 

I can still locate my very first EVER post on this forum if I go back through the archives and I can say now that hand on heart, I said everything in that first post I wanted to say on the matter.  By my reckoning, I shoudn't still be here.

All you get now is the odd thread worth reading.  In fact, in the last week, I've spent more time reading back through the archives to most of the old posts.  They're class some of them.

I do like it on here but most of it is just b0110cks.  I wonder if the moderators could tell us the percentage of new threads started which are in the General Chat section.  I'll wager it's more than the Liverpool General Discussion section.

I love discussing Liverpool, even if I don't display it on here that often anymore, I do know my sh1t.  It's just that there isn't much quality discussion on here that often anymore. 

There's TOO MUCH messing around with alter ego's etc..... too much fighting with other members, it's f*****g boring me.

Yes, a lot of new threads get started nowadays in General Chat Johnny, although General Chat here has always been popular. A year ago the Beavis Crew ruled General Chat, but many of those boys, Dom aside, rarely post here nowadays.

I've noticed that a lot of members who have been around here a long time tend to get bored after a while. I remember a time when Anfieldadorer and St. Michael used to post 20 decent posts a day, now those two guys appear to have got bored and don't post as much. A lot of the older members started in Liverpool: General Discussion but moved on to General Chat.

It goes in cycles: you may remember a lot of members from a year ago Johnny: Owzat, Big Al, Old Red Eyes etc who don't post here any more. A new wave came in the spring which spiced things up, and chances are another new wave of interesting members are around the corner.

As I said, it goes in cycles.

One of the major problems (and it is a problem on all discussion forums) is that some of the really good threads collapse under the weight of personal abuse and fights between members. Thats one of the main things that annoy people, as most people want to read and post good threads and not read "Stu you ******* **** **** *****" etc.

We're blue in the face asking people who regularly get into scraps to cool it, but most of the time its like trying to get the ocean in a head lock: it can't be done. Unless we do something like start banning people who regularly get into rows and use alter egos (which would probably amount to throwing the baby out with the dishwater) then really the forum is at the mercy of the idiots, messers and abuse merchants.

The idea of the advanced forum was to have an abuse and alter ego free place for people to post sensible threads and have decent discussions, but it never took off and you'd be lucky to get one post a day there now.

All the same, for every couple of weeks of the same old bull you do get a few days every now and again where the discussion is excellent.
