He had one sh!t song in the charts with his band, Boomtown Tw@ts, and he's like one of the worlds richest people? hows that happen then? You dont make that kinda money off one song. Surely he didnt line his own pockets off the back of Band/Live Aid? you bet your ar$e he did. Feed the World? more like Feed Geldoff's Bank account. fking soap dodging sh!thead.

did you even read the thread - cop on you simpleton!

If there weren't greedy f**kers like Bono and his shat band there might be more wealth going around the world and perhaps more for the poor. Unfortunately this basic tenet is lost on St. Bono when he starts asking for money for the developing world etc... I would like him and all of those other celebrities who are worth hundreds of millions to stick their hands in their own pockets and say Iam worth £100m Iam goin to keep back £10m for myself (just in case you never know like) and give the rest to the starving people in Africa cos I care!!! Hypocritical Knobhead and his music is really sh*te!

He can come across as a pompous pr*ck at times, but he'd be the first to admit it himself. As for the group moving all their assets abroad, this is very old news. It had a lot to do with the building of their new studio in Dublin, and for the fact that it makes sense to secure the band financially if they planned to go on huge tours, which they are. PopMart almost bankrupt the band. I'm sure they'd ideas of never making that mistake again. Regardless, the charity work the man has done in his lifetime deserves some respect. It's easy to scoff at people who do this, yet because they are only human and not Jesus Christ himself for not giving up all their riches, they should be condemned for that? Bollox. Now that's hypocrisy and irony all in one basket.
you are full of the typical hero worship bulls*itthat us Irish have been brought up to believe about he U2 who were the worlds biggest band when Ireland was
in the 1980s.
I am not saying that he should give up his wealth, just that he should pay tax. I pay about one third of my income in tax, should I avoid it all and give about 10% to charity and get good publicity for it?
the money that he has raised is othe people's money. k
He is a scumbag

Testament to the phrase I used earlier:
Damned if you do, not damned if you dont.
I think Geldoff deserves a lot of credit for what he has done.
He could have just sat on his @rse and done nowt.
Would have it been better if he'd done that?

U2 as a band arent my fave. they did some great songs, co wrote a great film and had a fantastic cameo in Entourage. There are probably 1000s better bands around today though than them in my opinion.

Dawson, if there are 1000's of better bands, then why aren't any of them as big? This whole "if it's underground it's cool" fad is just complete bollox. There is a reason why they are underground and unknown to the mainstream: it's because they are either shyte, or they lack ambition. Simple as that.

Just my opinion mate, they aren't my thing. Name the last really good song they made?
Beautiful day in 2000?
For me they will always be late 80s, Joshua Tree, then back again with Achtung Baby, apart from that, not my cup of tea.
