This thread should also keep a running tab of the daily euphemisms that Chinese officials dream up so that they don't have to call it smog.  I've heard mist, fog and--most entertaining of all--muck so far. :D

It is a bit disorientating that the Preliminary Football rounds are already underway without the Torch even being lit. But what the heck...

I'm looking forward as usual to the second week when the Athletics get underway, in particular the field events and the premier track finals.

Always look forward to the olympics, four years is almost long enough to make me forget how f'ucking tedious most of the televised stuff can be.

Can't say I am that bothered about the Olympics anymore. Not really bothered over much since Coe, Ovett and Cram, but hopefully we will get a few golds in the more prestigious events, and not just in the free style tiddly winks.

I like the Olympics, but this year it will be :censored: because of the time difference. Most of the events will be going on when I'm in work, or before I'm up. I know there's highlights, but it's not the same. Can anyone remember the Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan? No, because we all missed it, and as for the Japan/Korea World Cup, well that was shite as well.
Of course, I'm only talking from a European point of view, so Peewee, Big Mick, Bamaga Man and anyone else on the other side of the world, fill yer boots.
