I think that signing another striker is not as important as bringing a quality right winger to Anfield. Seems like Alonso is a done deal, but I would prefer someone like SWP or Juanfran before having another striker brought in. After all we`ve got Cissè, Baros and Pongolle; all top class players and even Kewell in case of many injuries in addition to the yougsters in the squad

You know what I mean - instead of spending £10m on a replacement striker, get someone cheap and cheerful that can bang the odd goal in and invest the rest of the cash elsewhere in the squad. In the prem, Stead and Earnshaw would probably be good for 10-15 goals a season (if they were playing regularly), which is exactly what I'm talking about as a 4th striker.

In hindsight, Kluivert was probably a missed opportunity, what with being free and all. I still don't think Owen's going to leave though.

you must be joking.

taking kluivert when the guy's done nothing for 18 months would be almost as bigger risk as signing el hadji diouf was. that's why newcastle were the only club interested when he became available. and secondly, it's hardly a free transfer when the only thing you have to worry about is paying the guy 12m in wages over 4 years.

I don`t think he`s gonna leave either. I wonder how this will affect his performance though, now that his "wish didn`t come through" I mean. Maybe even more important, I wonder how this will affect his relationship with Rafa ???

With Owen now certainly gone, i cant help we missed out big time on Kezman, if you want quality at a right price, look no further.....although Kevin beattie would be a good buy!!!
Chopper:Look, you're not still angry at me about the leg, are you?
Neville Bartos : Nah, forget about it.
Chopper : Because I don't know if you remember, Neville, but I had that bloody shotgun pointed at your head. I reconsidered and dropped it down to your kneecap. Remember?

kezman will prove to be the bargain of the summer at 5m. how can drogba be 5 times more expensive? kezman is as high as 16/1 to be top scorer in the premiership this season. :;):

Which is why LFC should've played hardball and only offered him a 1 or 2 year contract to prove his form. And I fail to see why a proven international player for free, albeit on sky-high wages is a bigger risk than a flash-in-the-pan international for £10m on sky-high wages.

Like him or not (and I have to say I don't), I think Kluivert is going to do well for Newcastle this season.

While i wouldn't want a 10 million man as 4th striker i wouldn't want Earnshaw either. I doubt he's even premership quality never mind good enough for us. I'd rather see Mellor anyday.

its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.
