Watched fist of legend last night woof,on uktv gold. Thought it was a good film and the fight scene at the end with the japanese general was boss. The only thing that put me off ,was it was dubbed into english and the actors doing the voices were p1ss poor. I think i'd rather watch it with sub-titles .

Yeah mate , completely agree. Fist of Legend is possibly my favourite Jet Li movie. Some amazing stuff in there.

I have a video of the original , not dubbed with English subs but can't find a DVD of same.

I never ever watch "dubbed" movies , they're guaranteed to turn even the greatest of foreign films into a Monty Python sketch.

:(

Anyway Igor, nice to hear that you seem to be slowly getting into some chinese/japanese film. There's some eye popping stuff in there mate.

You both have a point there.

I never quite understand why whey would put themselves to the trouble of dubbing a film. Isn't it a much easier way with subtitle?  ???

Re-watched The Tai-Chi Master yesterday. To be honest, I can't even imagine what it'd be like to listen to all of those characters in it speaking in English. Never want to know, though.

Now waiting on Ang Lee's new film - Lust, Caution.

Watched last night, another visually stunning action packed martial arts adventure from Asia (Korea)

Shadowless Sword link

(edited review from Movies at Midnight)
The action sequences here are in top form, and borrow liberally (if not flat out steal) from recent films like CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON, HERO and HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, as well as the style of earlier Hong Kong fare such as SWORDSMAN 2, DRAGON INN and some Shaw Brothers productions. Aside from a more rapid-fire editing, there is nothing on tap in this film that has not been done before, but it is still fun and exciting to watch. Here, both heroes and villains are able to float weightless through the air, bounce off of sword blades, run across flying arrows and maneuver their weapons through the air with the greatest of ease. There is also plenty of fabrics swooshing through the air, concrete cracking under feet and energy attacks which literally blow up both bodies and backgrounds.

If any of the Chinese films previously mentioned got your heart racing when you saw them, well then start figuring out how to get your hands on a copy of this movie now!

Woof, have you seen New Dragon Gate Inn yet?
An old HK film, similar genre to Shadowless Sword, with Maggie Cheung and Brigitte Lin in it.
