I am sitting here at work staring out the window and I can see f#ck all. Visibility is at about 2 Kilometres at the moment.

Its unbelievable that this is happening again. I work and live in KL (Malaysia) and at the moment the air quality is beyond bad. you step outside and nearly choke, feels like your wading through a forest fire.

Wind direction the last couple of weeks is directing smoke and dust from forest fires in sumatra (Indonesia) to penisular malaysia. today is paticularly bad.  normally KL isn't the most healthy of places for air quality, but this is beyond a joke.

i'll get some before and after pictures and post them later.

its fecking horrible, its been like this for a week now, actually its like bonfire night in england but much worse, you know what i mean, the smoke you used to get about 10pm

and babu, you liar, my office is 2.1km from yours and i can see you looking out of your window.

You're both exagerrating , I'm 10545 kms from downtown KL and I've just stood on my roof as can see PeeWee plain as day . (I won't tell you what he's doing    )


On a serious note , does Indonesia set fire to it's jungles every year ? I seem to recall KL having a similar and even more serious problem in previous years ,(i.e. smoke drifting in from java and sumatra )

its happened the three years ive been here, but to make it worse this year there are also fires in Cyberjaya just outside kl.

I remember a particularly bad hazy period in either late 1997 or early 1998, caused by the same thing - forest fire in Sumatra Island. I thought the haze then was worse than now with the government getting aeroplanes to "seed" clouds in order to get it to rain and wash away the haze. If it goes on any longer, this incidence will be the worst because of the sheer length of the haze.

And peewee, the view of you from my office - what are you doing with your finger up your @rse? Are you giving "the finger" to woof or are you giving it to yourself!
