greatest player i've seen ........i remember the year in which he almost single handedly brought Madrid the CL .....a player with mesmorisingly talented footwork and very hard working. Hope he is remember for all the good things he acheived and not as the guy who got sent off in a WC final

A truly great player and i honestly can't remember a player who is so highly unselfish as him and yet so highly rated. a true great, ronaldinho isn't fit to lace his boots. Who knows he might even win world player of the year (maybe going a bit too far there).

Italy did take 5 very good penalties but the margin of error for France was 1 missed penalty, a penalty that most likely would of been scored if Zidane was taking it

I suspect Trezeguet would have taken a penalty anyway (not that he necessarily would have missed).  Had Zidane been in the mix for penalties, I think Abudol or Sagnol would not have stepped up.

Bottom line, the outcome might have been the same had he stayed on the pitch.

Truely great player.

Best player of his time, without a shadow of a doubt.

Another reason why he is in an idiot. If he was offended so much by what Materazzi said, why headbutt him in the chest? Your going to get sent off everytime time for any headbutt so at least cave his face in??

Even if Zidane is still on to take the penalty, France would still have lose. Remember you have clown Barthez as France keeper.

the Officals have said they didn't use the TV reply to get ZZ sent off.  Apparently, the 4th or 5th offical saw it and it was then conveyed to the ref.

he probably thought he might be able to get away with it, and almost  did, i bet they did use video evidence because it took so long to make a decision.
