not really, Stevies been injured for the past year or so, Parker is probably first on the teamsheet due to his performances in the shirt. Plus hes just won englands player of the year so is it THAT weird a choice?

And after sundays performance he was nailed on for it  :D

its more to do with who will get the job in the summer, lets face it Stuart Pearce did not say it last night as he knows he would get a lot of stick for this.
Parker has only something like 10caps.

As an Irishman I get a good laugh out of the whole England national team and all the media drama that goes with it.

Not surprised that Carra never gave a f.uck about playing for them.

bet Gerrard dont start the game now.
Pearce was backing Terry, the FA said Terry was not to get the job and it to be passed to next in line. This would have been Gerrard. This is Pearce sticking his fingers up at the fa as he knows he will not get the managers job.

I think its simply down to football. Pearce hasn't picked Gerrard because as Dawson pointed out, he has been injured, while Parker has come in and done a good a job. Also he is only captain for this match isn't he? so maybe he is giving Parker the opportunity he deserves. He pointed out on the Liverpool site what it means to captain England so I think its purely down to football his decision. Come the championships Gerrard will be captain.

Good. Yet another reason for Gerrard to retire from England after the Euro's.

yep, delighted myself. i'm sure stevie would have been proud to captain the team but it means he would have to play way too much.

Load of fuss over nothing.

1) I get the feeling this Parker captaincy is an experiment rather than a permanent appointment.
2) Pearce wont be in charge for the Euro's so whoever he does appoint as captin will be subject to change under the new manager.

I think you miss the point, He loves playing for England and he see being the captain as a great thing to be.
If he is unhappy then that will start to show in his play not just for England but for us.

I would love to see him win something as England Captain.

Or this weekend against Arsenal he's gonna push everybody as hard as possible to beat the sh!te out of them.  Prove how good a captain he really is.

@OliverKayTimes: RT @StanCollymore: England Team v Holland.  Hart/Richards Smalling Cahill Baines Parker Barry/A Johnson Young Gerarrd /Wellbeck  #talksport

Collymore has been very reliable with line ups. Can't see Gerrard playing more than a half.
