As for his abilities - failing at inter for me doesnt mean he isnt a good manager - same as last season where he took his eye of the ball to fight the owners . His continued success with us and Valencia is what made him a good manager . If he has been sacked its a shame , but i hope he then goes and takes a little break from the game to recharge .

I would like hiim back here but think it would be the wrong thing to do at the moment and if he did come back here this forum is going to explode .

He has a history of fighting the owners though.

Maybe he should stick to managing ?

And fighting with owners for the good of the team doesn't take away his accomplishments

Its an excuse for his failure, as simple as that for me.

This is where i feel he is most manipulative.

Not using it as an excuse Ben just saying because it has happened doesn't mean we forget all the good things .

As Andy has said nobody is forgetting the good things he done.
There are some though that are of the opinion that the bad things outweighed the good.
The last few seasons things got steadily worse.
I know you will come back with the record points total response but i ask you this, what did we win that season ?
We havent won a thing since 2006 and under Rafa it didnt look like we would anytime soon.

I was relieved when we finally let him go.

We didn't win anything Ben as you rightly know but we came closer than we had in 20 years , at least with Rafa we put ourselves into positions every season where we had the chance to win something and during many seasons the biggest club trophy . Wenger hasn't won anything since 2005 and overall his record while Rafa was with us I think was close to being below Rafa yet do you see him getting slaughtered on a daily basis - even when we were doing well Rafa was slaughtered both in forums or in media . His record just shows how good a manager he is . If you knew the only person that would of come in during summer was Hodgson would you really want Rafa to leave ? You only have to look at their records as managers to see Rafa comes out as a clear winner .

I think Arsenal could do with a change to be honest.
Wenger has stagnated over the last 5 seasons and hasnt rectified the glaring problems they have had over that period.
Goalkeeper, and decent holding midfielder.
They should have signed Given or Schwarzer ages ago and probably should of tried to get Yaya Toure.
Every season now they are nearly men, they flatter to deceive.
I wouldnt be happy if i was an Arsenal fan.

I was prepared to give whoever replaced Rafa a go, looking at it now it seems clear that Roy isnt upto the job but that doesnt mean we should have kept the previous failing manager. Things were almost as bad last season but have just carried on getting worse.

I cant see how that justifies Rafa staying though when he quite clearly didnt know how to arrest the slide last season.
I wouldnt have trusted him with transfer funds after the Keane, Aquilani and Dossena transfers.
I dont care that previously he signed Reina Torres Mascherano etc etc etc. That's the past, most recently Rafa has been really poor in the market and wasted alot of money.
Poulsen who is clearly a poor buy is someone that Rafa was trying to bring in himself just before he went to Juve, a fact that is conveniently forgotten.

sums it up for me. I don't hate Rafa, but i did hate the way he would conduct himself and drag boardroom spats into the press. He did some great things for our club, but he lost the plot towards the end and his time was up.

I hope he takes time out with his family and rebuilds his career in Spain next season.

If Rafa hadn't of made some things public, we might still have H+G as owners.  And Purslow might of done much more long term damage to the club.
