Pessotto rushed to hospital

Tuesday 27 June, 2006

Gianluca Pessotto, the new Juventus team manager, is fighting for his life after a freak accident in Turin this morning.

Reports suggest that the former defender, who only retired from the game this summer, fell from a second floor window at the club’s headquarters in Corso Galileo Ferraris.

Pessotto has been rushed to the Molinette hospital with what, at this stage, seem to be serious injuries.

The former Torino player was only appointed as team manager this month after Alessio Secco was promoted to sporting director.

The news has also reached the Italian national team camp in Germany today.

Captain Fabio Cannavaro, a teammate and friend, left a media conference this morning when told of the incident.

I know this isn't about LFC, but thought i'd post it here because it seems (if the Italian rumour mill is to be believed) that Juventus are going to be relegated and have their league title given to Inter.  Although its reported as an accident, Pessotto is alleged to have jumped.

so please no Italian diving jokes if you please  :D

but seriously, i hope the guy recovers ok.

Another article I read said he had jumped from the roof and was found clutching a rosary, so I've based my opinion off of that. Feel bad for the fellow.  Also they said 15 meters.

I didn't think any individuals had been named at this stage.  It sounds very dodgy to me.

I don't know his circumstances, but I feel for his family.

He wasn't named in the sporting fraud scandal but if he did (as rumoured) jump in what was a suicide attempt then he must feel bad about something!!

Italian football is going to be ruined after this. Still it might mean we get some cheap players out of it!!

He is not involved in the scandal though. I think juve have a decent chance of being relegated. They have to if italian football is to start again. Would'nt mind nicking 1 or 2 of their players. :D
