Beckham leaving madrid - Would we be interested?

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

Postby sundy » Wed Jan 10, 2007 3:34 pm

Real Madrid director of sport Predrag Mijatovic has told Italian television that David Beckham will leave the club in the summer.

Speaking to Sky Italia, Mijatovic revealed that the former England captain would not sign a new contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"Beckham will leave us, we will not renew his contract," he stated.

Beckham's current deal runs out at the end of the season and there has been frenzied speculation about his future.

Real did initially offer the ex-Manchester United idol a new contract, but Beckham refused to commit himself to the club having fallen out of the first-team picture under Fabio Capello.

The Primera titans now appear to have lost patience with the 31-year-old and Mijatovic insists he will no longer be granted the opportunity to extend his stay at the club.

Those passes are hollywood passes and dont come off everytime.  As a winger Beckham isnt the answer as he cant beat a player.

I would take him in a second, quality player, that would offer us something totally different.
He could have a similar effect as Robbie had last season when he came in January, lets face it Pennant has hardly set the world alight so far.
It isnt very likely he would come here, but he could be a great signing imo.

at last someone can see the wood through the trees.

well done ace.

He would be a great asset to this club. He still is a wonderful player, he just ain't getting the time to play over in Madrid.

Fair enough though if you dont want him, lets just hope he doesn't sign for another british club.

id have him.  the guy is world class.. he will never comein Liverpool though.. London or forign lands
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

wasn't there some talk about him going off to make his last few million in dubai? well - he could do that in liverpool soon, couldn't he?

realistically though i wouldn't want him. sure, from time to time he can turn it on and be amazing but that happens less and less often. and if there is one thing we should be learning from last night its that investment in talented and motivated youth can reap rewards. lets look to the future, eh?

Think the views of the pro and anti Beckham posters both hold some validity but lets face it ,Beckham at LFC ? IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN .

I would have thought that the pace and style of Italian football would suit him more.

If he did however return to the prem I'd have bet on him going to someone like Spurs or West Ham but now can't see Spurs displacing Aaron Lennon for Beckham and West Ham look destined for relegation .
