Starting match threads - Bit of effort

Can we have a bit of an unwritten rule regarding match threads?

Can the thread starter put some effort into it?
Instead of posting a badge of each team and then a "cmon redmen  :buttrock  ".

How about both teams' form over the last 5 or 6 games?
If we are away, then the opponents' home record.
List players who are injured or doubtful for the game.
The previous season's results.... etc.

It only takes 10 mins to get the info and post it up.
Makes for a better thread I think.

Yeah think thats definately worth doing.

Too many people too eager to start threads without putting in any effort or making it interesting.

If you want an interesting thread find the solent thread....real good read that one.

Particularly I don't care who starts the thread. I welcome the info regarding to the match and the oppo team, but that can come perfectly in the third, or fourth post.

I sometimes don't even need a first serious post, I remember for instance when The Manhattan Project started the match thread with his views. I miss them. Same happens with Bermenstein starters, I welcome them and I like the folklore, but it doesn't have to be a must that he starts them.

If we're waiting for our favourite match starters, and in that week that man is busy, what do we do, wait until the day before of the match? who starts the thread shouldn't have that importance.

I think it should be a rotating and random thing, and if you have opened 2 in a month, perhaps you should think it's a good idea someone else does.

Once upon a time, many threads (including Matchday openers) had a lot more care and attention to detail incorporated in them.

Alas, you can't keep everyone happy.....(or interested). So the 'Less is more' philosophy crept in.

Shame that, on a discussion platform such as a 'Public forum' - but there you go

The Manhatton Project used to do a quality starter...
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road
