But a new manager wants players that fits his philosophy.
Besides trying to improve/change Kuyt/Lucas/insua and Ngog
would be futile at best. They suck, period. And there will not be money to change the setting of the team. Kuyt will still do his best to mimic a headless chicken no matter if Rafa or Hiddink, Capello, etc are on the bench...

We might not have the money to bring top level caliber players to replace the above players ,but with good scouting we should be able to find decent and better replacement, This means our new manager must have a good eye for talents.

If Rafa does stay, I wish he would just buy an out & out wingers, same mold as Valencia, Nani, Lennon, Ronaldo and etc... But he doesn't like quick wingers as he feels it doesn't suit his tactics, he wants his wide men to cut in field and allow the right/left backs to be wingers instead. If we buy a few, we then have Kuyt up front.

The same Kuyt who scores once every eon when placed up front? He is poor on the wing but abysmal up front.

The problem with wingers we would need are mostly that they are too expensive. We need a real difference maker like Ribery, Robben and the like but that kind of players are out of our league.

Jose Mourinhos price is too high, we can not give him the spending money he is looking for.

talks with Rafa and Juventus fell apart as they would not give him the power he has at Liverpool.

the amount of debt come out in the pres on friday

MON todays says that he will be happy to be at his club next year.

.............................I think the truth is that DUE TO OUR DEBT  the owners can not find a big named manager to take the job if Rafa left.

Rafa all of a sudden thought me might have burnt his bridges with Liverpool over what his agent has said.....he run back to the club and started having meetings trying to keep his job and to play down the link with other clubs.

(what the bets that as soon as i post this liverpool sack him lol)

But who would Mourinho say no?

We are such a great club and he would have a chance to prove himself and make us challenging again with no money.
And he would be able to come back to the PL....

no money to buy new players, it eems that he has a rider on any contract that he can spend over 150/170 mil on players

I think Rafa is a top class manager. If he went Real Madrid next year, he would easily challenge for La Liga.

However...

He has lost control at Liverpool. I blame both him and the owners. I dont think the players want to play for Rafa. I think Stevie and Nando have lost all faith and without investment, they seriously may leave this summer.

For me, we first need new owners. Without new owners in first, we cant attract a decent new manager.

I dont dislike Rafa, I just feel its genuinly time for a change, a new sense of direction. It would give the existing players a new found belief and determination.

If somebody gave me 50 million pounds to spend as I saw fit at Liverpool, I would pay off Rafa and bring in Mourinho. ( I would do that before investing in new players!! Thats how much I would love to see Mourinho at the club. I dont think our sqaud is as bad as the league position says we are )

Just my opinion though...and hey, Rafa might still win us the league one day yet...but who can honestly call it in these uncertain times...

I agree Kopite-7

He has bought some good players If we had kept Crouch, Alonso, Riise, Keane I think we would have won the title, seriously. For me he doesn't show any passion, he's got a habit of playing a striker up front on his own with midfielders trying to brake forward and support him. Gerrard, who a couple of season back was one of the top midfielders in the world and scoring goals from there, is now playing too far up the pitch so we are losing his passing and drive from midfield and this zonal marking for set pieces. learn and change.
Also all this talk of players leaving. If they are under contract to the club the they stay at the club until they are ready to be sold by the club. No player is bigger than Liverpool FC.
Lets look forward to next season, let start with hope in our hearts.
Get new owners, invest in the club and whoever the manager is support him.

thats right i post so much shot like that Rafa agent has been talking to other clubs, players having bust up, players falling out with Rafa, owners pulling out of deals to sell the club,Big named player about to walk out of the club,  god yes i post so much :censored:, none of that is true............its all so happy at ou club that after every game they have a dance around the flowers drinking ginger beer.

And i dont take the threat of physical violence lightly, do you forget what i do for my job.......each week i am a small room with men 5 times the size of me that have been in prison for things like murder and i stand there telling them that they are wrong in their views.

sometimes i do wonder why men like you get off talking like this on a forum where we are meant to all be friends.

I take it that you have chased praise all your life and never got it, was it from your dad you was looking for it?.

Penguins wrote:I do agree with that. I don't think Rafa has been tactically spot on this season, far from it to say the least.

But unlike others I believe there is no such thing as a fairytale manager who can improve things that significantly with the turmoil presently at the club. Every manager will make mistakes
and with the vermin selecting a manager, it makes me even less confident.

I am just annoyed when people say Rafa has been fully backed in the market to have us challenge every year which is a load of ****.
When Houllier had 15 million net to spend a season and Rafa has had 15 million the circumstances were totally different.
10 years ago 15 million was a lot of money and could buy practically everyone but the very best.
Now 15 million isn't that much(in the footballing world) and will hardly get you a top class player anymore.
Not to mention the fact that 10 years ago there was only Manure and :censored: who was really "up there".

Since Rafa took over the playing field has totally changed.

Now, Chelski and City are just blowing everyone away with Spurs making noise also. Not to mention that Manure and :censored: is still there.
But we go on with the same backing as of 10 year ago and expect results. Not going to happen.

Yes we all know that a few others have more money available to them than Rafa
That point has never been the issue, its the fact that he has had more than enough money and time to put together a decent settled side that has fluidity and style
The reality is that after 6 years under Rafa we look like a bunch of strangers and play negative boring football
This has everything to do with Rafa's poor judgement on different fronts
I think hes a control freak who since the loss of Pako & Paco has lost his way and we are now seeing the results of HIS bad judgement calls.
The owners or his transfer pot have nothing to do with the level of the :censored: we are watching!
