Who needs to go?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Thommo's perm » Sun Apr 27, 2014 8:48 pm

I dont know if theres already a thread covering this topic?

Who needs to go if we want to progress next season?
Mine are:
Johnson. Frustrating, no confidence, liability
Aspas. Not good enough, lightweight
Lucas. Mediocre at best, slow, gives free kicks away needlessly

These are my choices, what are yours?

I'd bloody hope so mate, I seen Cissokho on Friday night as I was coming out of Gusto, was tempted to tell him how sh*t he is but decided against it as I was in a good mood. :D

Borini has to go. Nowhere near the required standard, a championship level player at best.
Aspas - Same as above.
Alberto - Hasn't played at all and hasn't contributed. Looked tidy once or twice but apparently has an attitude problem.
Kelly - Never recovered from his injury and looks slow and laboured these days when he plays.
Coates - Waste of money.

From the first team:

Mignolet - Absolute flop and very average premier league standard keeper. Begovic is the answer, I hope we get him before someone else does. He will move to a big club next season.
Johnson - Embarrassment to the shirt and a disgrace of a player. Has absolutely nothing going for him.
Skrtel or Agger - To raise funds for a first choice centre half to partner Sahko. Based on this season I'd lean towards keeping Skrtel now as his performance in the second half of the season haven't been as poor as the first and he's been immense off set pieces. Agger is too injury prone.
Lucas - The lad offers us absolutely nothing. Its no coincidence that as soon as he comes back into the side we start to struggle. Henderson is by no means a top player but he's proved his worth this season and the difference in quality between him and Lucas is vast, which for me, says everything we need to know about the "Brazilian". We could do with replacing him with a quality midfielder who has the ability to dislodge Gerrard and can perform in his absence. I'd look at both of Saints midfielders, Wanyama and Schneiderlin, also take a look at Nzonzi from Stoke.

So long as they are replaced:

Lucas.
Pepe.
Aspas.  :D
Coates.
Borini.
Champions of England 2020.

In my opinion none are meeting the future standard we are aiming for. Enrique ,even Prior injury ,was an OK LB but not much more In Robinson and Wisdom i haven't seen anything which looks like a potential world beaters and that is what we need ,might be harsh as they are still pretty young but i couldn't detect the quality that we need.

Lucas won't go, Gerrard will be 34 next season and playing 90 minutes week in week out in 4 competitions will be beyond him, Lucas is not bad in the holding role and he is also a big pal of Suarez, I think Rodgers will be careful to keep the camaraderie within the squad. For the same reason it wouldn't surprise me if Johnson stayed (wage demands accepted).

Love your optimism

Reina, with one year left, not wanted, will leave for 2-3 million at best....
Johnson will leave on a free....
Coates hasn't played a game for ages. Maybe can get 2 million.
Assaidi.. 4 million!!! more like 1.5-2 million
Aspas. Maybe 4 million if they missed how Sh*t he's actually been this season
Borini will fetch maybe 5-6 million at best.

I'd say around 15 million at best for them.

We can get a lot better than Lucas, and I think we need to look for a player in the Yaya Toure mould as a replacement. Lucas might be a decent option from the bench, but if we need to sell him for a better midfielder then so be it.

I rather see who we get in first before clearance sale especially with a four front campaign next season
