Only if your Mum stays at home this time ,Lucas doesn't like beards,or the smell of WD-40.

How Lucas Leiva  has become an important player for Liverpool's re-emergence as a football power

As far as Lucas is concerned

Can't see the "top" teams in the Premiership or Europe busting a gut to sign him. Maybe that's why he's still with us ?

Not knocking the fella, he keeps it simple, does his job and I'm happy to see his name on our team sheet

Could we do better,  :nod yes.

Lucas is not for sale that's why he is still with us
Don't see teams in premiership or Europe busting a gut for any midfielders in any premiership teams at the moment
keeping it simple ! football is a simple game made hard by players who try and do the impossible
could we do better....that's up for debate..names would be nice :D

Agree Woof. Was very impressed with his display against WBA. I think the break/rest did him good, he didn't look as though he was running through treacle like he usually does. That was his best game of the season by a country mile, hope he keeps it up.

SS, has always knocked our captain even in his pomp when praising his son, now father time he caught up with Gerrard it gives SS further dues to ram that knife/point home.

Always gave praise where it was due....SG should be treated as any other Team" member"; when he performs well he receives the accolades , if he doesn't then it should be pointed out .....

Off the top of my head

Sandro - Spurs, provided his knee injury is a thing of the past, potenially a great replacement for Lucas
De Jong - Milan, Not sure if we were ever in for this fella, can't believe Milan got him from City for around £5 million.

Lucas has currently replaced Sandro in the Brazillian team - he did look good before his knee injury but not sure what else he gives that we don't get from Lucas.

De Jong - bit of a thug and didn't really stand out for City and also doesn't stand out for Milan from what I have seen.

Think Sandro out with injury is what got Lucas into the team

De Jong does have a bit of "reputation", as an aggressive player who goes in hard, think labelling him a  "thug" is a bit unfair.

As for not standing out at City, De Jong once said

"My game is based on giving 200%, making tackles and protecting the defence. When I get the ball I give it to guys who are more creative than me. I suppose you could say that I'm the water carrier. I don't mind that description!"

His name was usually one of the first on the team sheet, over 100 appearances in just two and a half seasons.

Sandro returned to the Brazilian squad after his injury and before Lucas returned. It's only recently ( last couple of games that Lucas replaced him).

I would ask why City sold De Jong so cheaply. He was a pure DM - he would tackle and tackle hard but on the ball was lacking and just didn't offer enough. I don't believe he would be able to fit into a side looking to pass the ball.

I dunno either, you'll have to ask City, or maybe Milan, who bought him

Yeah fk him what teams needs a pure DM  who'll put in crunching tackles, break up attack after attack, lay the ball off to a more creative player, but can do f'uck all else.  :glare:

Last time we had one of those types we ended up selling him to Barcelona, we won't repeat that mistake again   :upside:

But Lucas does that and is also more comfortable on the ball. So Lucas actually will be a bigger asset to the team.

And Masher was also a lot more than just a tackler. He was also more comfortable on the ball than De Jong.
