Brilliant today ,his appetite for the game is up there with Suarez ,and the Kop acknowledged his performance accordingly ....loved the baby rocking
celebration with Suarez.

One of the first names on the team sheet.

Quality player - massively underrated by some

There was something missing against Newcastle defensively and in my opinion it was the smash it all up machine that is Daddy Lucas !!!! What a player - great game. Same again against Arsenal please.

Unbelievable comments! Absolutely unbelievable. A good game (by his standards) against West Brom and everyone's raving over him? A game in which he gave away a stupid penalty?

A midfielder who's reading of the game is nothing more than decent, isn't particularly quick, cannot go past a player, isn't great in the air, doesn't have a great shot, doesn't set goals up or score goals and doesn't pass a ball more than 30 yards is now considered by people as "one of the first names on the team sheet" and some sort of excellent midfielder?

He was one of the key reasons we won 4-1 and drew 2-2 against Newcastle without him. You seem determined to blame him for the penalty. Look at it again and slow the picture down, and you can clearly see that it was Cissoko's outstretched leg that caused the penalty. I know that doesn't quite fit with your agenda but that is what happened.

There is no agenda what so ever.

NONE!

The lad had a good game, I've said that time and time again. I have no problem admitting when someone performs well and yesterday he played well, he made some good tackles and positioned himself well through out the game. What I find laughable is that people are now completely over hyping the lad beyond all recognition. He's nothing more than a decent player, he's never going to be anything else and when people start talking about him as the "first name on the team sheet" and other stupid accolades like that then it is a very sad situation to be in.

Amused at the debate over who gave away the penalty.

Not a single West Brom player appealed for it, why ?

because it wasn't a f'ucking penalty

OK, I'm biased, at best it was a 50/50 decision given by a linesman who couldn't wipe his a'rse if the light in the bog was switched off   :veryangry

Well yeah agree with that - didn't think it was a pen but it wasn't given against Lucas

It matters when someone is being critical of a player for giving it away. Whether it was a penalty or not can be debated but it was given.

He may not be as good as Alonso (can't make a case for many) but anyone who can't see that he is a critical part of our team hasn't got a clue.

I believe the significance of Lucas when he's involved in our midfield no longer goes unnoticed ,it seems his dissenters ,or those who
refer to him in a pejorative manner are now at long last in the minority.. kind of like a voice fading into the distance, although the odd
few seem intent on lingering around like a silent fart that should have long since dissipated........  :D

Didn't go yesterday as I had to give my ticket up. But I am not sure how much the win is down to lucas coming back in or just havin an extra midfielder rather than moses. The other two where previously left exposed for me.
