Is it a straight loan though? I'd have liked the option to buy, since he will flourish in the right team.

Straight loan - no option to buy.

takes some doing pushing suarez, sturridge or coutinho out of the starting XI
at this point in time though he`s better than sterling or ibe so we are upgrading on what we have.
rafa seemed to rate him and played him quite a lot at chelsea and we all know how good a judge of a player he was.
welcome to the club vic

Think it's fair to say that we'll see some rotation over the season, protecting some players from possible burn out.  Powerful and determined player always looked "up for it" . Good acquisition.

Ha ha.

They were burnt already by selling us Sturridge, I'd bet they wish they had loaned instead of selling him now.

What struck me as much as anything about our performance yesterday was the team's hunger and desire in the heat of the battle. We showed the kind of resolve that we haven't often seen in recent seasons and I think a big reason for that is that some of the newer recruits and younger members of the team have a massive point to prove. We're seeing how a group of talented young players once disparagingly referred to as  'other clubs' cast offs', when combined with a core of senior players who've been around the block a few times, can influence the spirit of our performances -- which is so crucial to success.

Moses may not be a 'next level' signing like Mata or Ozil, but he is talented, he does have a point to prove and he is better than Ibe, Sterling and that 'extremely uninspiring' waste of space we sent to West Ham. I'm optimistic he'll prove a good acquisition.

Welcome to the club. Not exactly what we were expecting at the starting of the window but I'm sure he'll do just fine. Will do better than Downing in any case.

He will have to improve on last season if he is to do better than Downing. 1 goal in the prem and 1 assist.

I would have thought the level we needed would be a lot higher than - to do better than Downing. The level we needed is - to take us into the the CL.

looking at our bench yesterday and the options are not great. he is much better than borini and wont get shoved off the ball like sterling. he's comfortable in this league and thats a + imo, we have seen him enough over the last few years to know what we are getting and if rodgers can push him on to the next level it will be an added bonus.
not the big name we would have hoped for, but as a loan deal it could be another piece of shrewd business.

Do you think he is a player to take us up a level or just to do a job - that's what we had with Downing - someone to just do a job.

that depends on how much of an impact he has in the team really, if he's a starter and contributes goals and assists then yes he would have taken us up a level.
as i said he isnt the big name i had hoped for but thats not to say he will be a flop either, he is only 22 and has been at a few clubs already so maybe he will settle here.
he's only here on a loan and imo just has to offer more than borini does to warrant being here, if he doesnt off he goes back to chav-ski and we sign someone else.
he has a good opportunity to shine here benny if he is willing to work hard enough for it.

I think those stats are a bit misleading. Moses didn't feature much for Chelsea despite the fact that he has appeared in around 25 games. He was usually introduced as a late substitute or he came off early in the game.

We should take more notice of the games Chelsea played in Europe. Moses had 5 goals and 1 assist in a total of 10 European games. His total in all competitions for last season is 12 goals and 9 assists. That's not that bad. Certainly not the marque signing we were expecting but he is not a bad player.

Here we go again benny. I am glad you have compared him to downing because come the end of the season when he has p!ssed all over him performance wise you will look as clueless as you really are.

I think he's a good player who is an upgrade on Stewart Downing.

It's hard to attract Champions League players when you're not in the champions league, for a team who in the past 4 seasons has finished no higher than 6th, it's probably been a difficult job in convincing the players the club wants to sign for us - As we saw with Mktaryan.

I actually think the move was a good bit of business now as well. Our first choice turned us down to go to the champions league finalists, our second choice turned us down to stay on at a champions league club on an improved contract and spurs have been spending the Bale money, acquiring attacking midfielders. I think it makes sense to get a player in on loan - who is an upgrade on what we had last season anyway - and then see who's available in January / next summer - rather than go for a 3rd/4th choice now.

And when he carries on his mid table performances then what ?

We want players to take us to the CL and we get Victor Moses ! Let the celebrations begin. Our standards have truly dropped

I bet you said that about sturridge and Coutinho.  Moses for me is a big upgrade on downing. He only needs to be able to tie his own laces to do that.

I bet you I didn't say it all about them because could easily see Coutinhos quality and my only concern about Sturridge was his injury record.

Moses is nothing like either of them.

Moses is a good player.  Well better than downing. We will revisit this in a few months
