You haven't bothered responding to some of my substantive reasoning. You chose to ignore the fact that FSG have allowed £150m to be spent. I asked you why you are so insistent about FSG's lack of support and you quite typically ignored the question. If you want to behave in this way then why the fk should I bother responding to you.

When did i say anything about a lack of support from FSG

I have mentioned that they spent £150mil - they spent it on about 8 players over 2 years and that money came from player sales and money generated by the club

Now compare that to the spending of Chelsea and City and their owners who put their hands in their own pocket to fund spending sprees of nearly half a billion. 150mil is spare change and nothing.

So which teams have won the league with big funding - £150mil over 2 years on 8-10 players isn't big enough compared to the teams that actually win the title.

As an example Chelsea in the same period have spent £130mil NET

In 9 years Chelsea spent £700mil without having to sell players - we spent just under half that with a net around £80mil

City in 4 years to win the title spent £400mil NET

That's the type of spending that wins you titles

If you would like to go back through the thread you will find that it was actually yourself that claimed my way was the right way. You really are a fkg hero. You're actually having an argument with yourself now. Fk knows how long that would go on and just who would win !!

If I was asked this a few years ago I would had said no without hesitation. I would have never wanted us to turn into a soulless club with plastic fans and overpaid primadonas as players. It just ruins the whole game for me.

However, nowadays we're witnessing a very different situation than it was few years ago. Today it's not just a few clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid that have deep pockets. A lot of clubs have been bought by rich owners (City, QPR, PSG, Malaga) and this trend is just getting started. Being bought by a rich owner in times like these won't automatically mean buying success. It won't even necessarily mean having success in any kind of form at all ("bought" or "earned"). It will just mean keeping up with the surrounding competition. We won't be able to buy the best because we won't be the only ones able to do that.

As much as I'd hate it, it might be best if we did get bought by a rich owner, before it gets too late and we fall behind even further.

If the a-rabs buy Arsenal then we could end up being blocked out of the Champions League by big spenders:  Man Ure, Chelsea, City, Arsenal.  If thats the case then our income stream would be severely reduced and we'd have to revise the business plan accordingly with fewer class players and lower salaries. I didn't realise that Shrek is on 250 thou a week for example. If the CL is slammed shut then the only way forward is to go get an arab. Moores sold Liverpool because he couldn't finance a stadium, FSG might have to sell because they can't finance the squad.  We HAVE to build that stadium, without the extra income we're nothing.

When someone says "right way" and puts it in quotation marks it means they are being sarcastic and questioning the use of the statement "right way"

It's quite clear why you have ignored the main points - because you can't find the answers.

You can rant and rave like a child and throw insults at me to try and deflect your lack of answers but it doesn't hide the fact that you are stuck in some moral fantasy world where you believe in wishes and dreams and that the title will arrive to us because we did it the "right way " ( not the use of quotation marks to highlight sarcasim )

I would like to see the current regime in place for a little longer yet. We are just beginning after quite some time to look like a half decent team. I appreciate that we lack strength in dept and that academy successes are few and far between.Recent less expensive acquisitions are beginning to impress. My overall preference is to see us succeed on merit rather than been given enough money to simply buy the entire sweet shop. I am under no illusion about the difficulties that presents but the satisfaction of achievement would be immense. Metaphorically speaking billionaire owners are simply strapping an engine onto a 100 metre sprinter to win an Olympic Gold Medal. Money equals steroids which equals very limited satisfaction. I'm not ready to take the steroids yet. We need to be more imaginative. We have made more than our fair share of serious financial mistakes over the last decade. There has got to be a better way than simply sending the begging bowl out to an arab billionaire.

Did City not win the title on merit then ? Or Chelsea or even United who have spent millions.

To win things you need top quality players - to get top quality players you need to buy them.

Would you like another 10 players of the ability and talent of Suarez - I would , but to get those players you need to buy them. If we don't buy those players then we won't bridge the 30 points gaps to the title winners.

There is no better way - money rules football - it has done for decades. If our current owners dug into their own pockets and funded a squad build then there would be a drastic improvement - but they won't because that doesn't fit in with the self sustainment model. And a self sustainment model doesn't win titles. That has been proven

Problem with the scenario is managers tend to come in knowing it could be a short term job so they go out for the short term success rather than building a base for long term success. You cannot really blame them as they know if they did not produce instant results they will be sacked so they sacrifice long term success for short term gain. I wonder if purple nose could have built his long term success in this day and age.
