I once described the fella as a "sack of spuds" and fair play to him on the limited opportunies he's had he's gradually changed my opinion. There's a player inside Andy Carroll, unfortunately it doesn't look like our manager can or want's to use it. I'm convinced  Carroll has a big future working with a manager that shows some belief in him.

It's better than having no option.

Let's not forget before we bought him he scored at a decent rate in the prem when fit and confident.

Andy was mis managed last season. When he found a bit of form and confidence he looked a proper cf

Benny - you've worn the fkg drum out  :;): Andy scored 4 goals in 21 league games and put in a few decent cup games. For the main part he was poor. His attitude was questionable. His fitness was poor. He is very limited and guess what BR has recognised that along with all the other very average players brought in by Comolli and Dalglish.

soccernet has pretty much just reported that We've agreed a loan deal with West Ham with the buyout option at the end of the year.  Unless we sign a top player in his place, I'm not too happy about this.

loan deal accomplishes nothing here, we send him to a side that play the polar opposite of Brendan Rodgers, his value decreases further, clubs know we want rid and will pull "an Aquilani" and low ball us until 3 seasons down the line he leaves for buttons. I swear to God I want to find out before I shuffle off this mortal coil who gave the Ok for all these crazy, overpriced transfers last season, whether it was Kenny or Comolli or both there really is no doubting now that they are guilty of the worst transfer misspend in the history of World football. And thats not hyperbole, it was a catastrophic waste of money that could had us competing at the top but has sent us left us years behind the top clubs. I Im not normally one for this level of pessimism, I leave that to Benny ( :D  ) but the full extent of those events is becoming fully apparent, and will probably only get worse. Jesus I need a pint.

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll looks set to join West Ham on a season-long loan before the transfer deadline, with the Hammers paying a fee to take him for a year without any agreement to complete a permanent transfer.

I somewhat agree, but if the deal is the same as it was originally put, then if WH aren't relegated they must buy him for the full price.

I dont think there is an agreement to buy at the end of the loan from what ive read, but if there in fact is - how much is the final fee?

It's on the offal now, the club's just announced he's on loan for the full season with West Ham.

Like you pointed out maypax, if there's no buy out, then we could be losing value on him.  If he does really well for West Ham tho, we could also be adding value.

It's a gamble by Brendan if we struggle for goals this year but it looks like the owners are determined to get Carroll off the wage bill after what happened last year under Kenny.

Despite Brendan saying recently that Carroll couldn't go out on loan obviously the club have realised that Newcastle and no-one else are prepared to pay even £17 million to get him permanently.

If Carroll does go and nobody comes in then Borini, Suarez, Sterling and possibly Morgan will be under pressure to be clinical in the finishing department.

I think you're right, which could be good or bad.  The original agreed fee was 19 I think, and I'd heard 17 for the new deal, but it seems maybe there's no agreement, which personally I prefer.

Hmmm, it's on a season long loan. Heard that the agreement is that he can't play against us, is his true ?
