All I see when caroll plays is jumping and executing half headers which is most of the time not on target. If Carroll needs so much confidence to play decent, he's not gonna get there seeing he's not starting games. It is better to cut the losses and reinvest in a striker that will be able to play BR's system. Look at how Allen had made such a significant impact to the team...

yup... same can be said of you and those who cannot see how limited Carroll is

you are assessing carroll's and borini's qualities isolated as if they're practicing with the ball alone. Do you see Borini's off the ball movement in the game? Against City, there were several times he was making runs and in acres of space and suarez didn't pass to him (which was why I was so critical of Suarez during that game). That header attempt that was created by Sterling needed alot of movement from Borini and he was unlucky not to score. Carroll will be miles away from that cross. Borini has the potential to be a fox in the box much like Insaghi... that's why I don't agree with how he is played on the right... I've been watching Carroll patiently, hoping he will improve... but his playing style is just depressing.

it shows how closely you watch the games when you think that sidefooted finish of borini`s from sterlings cross was an attempted header!
it`s just a falicy to say carroll doesnt get into goalscoring positions, he missed quite a few of those types of chances last season himself (like that downing cross he volleyed onto the crossbar against swansea at home, or that header early on in the second half of the semi final against everton, or that chance against norwich in the last few seconds of the game at anfield, or a similar chance against blackburn at home etc etc).
i actually think borini would be better suited to be playing next to a carroll type player, an individualist type player like suarez playing in the middle of a 3 doesnt suit borini`s game, suarez is too unpredictable to read.

Yup just goes to show how Carroll wastes clear cut opportunities...

erm becuase he's sh!te striker??

Seriosuly Carroll was possibly one fo the worst pieces of business this club have ever done, yes he played ok towards the end of the season but the rest of the season he was embarassing to say the least. I still don't rate him and if Brendan says he has to go then he has to go, I have more faith in Brendan than any of you armchair pundits.

look at the whole of carroll`s career and stop judging him on one 6-8 month period when he had a lot to deal with, especially for a young player. he came through that sticky patch and ended the season as one of our better players (if not our best player)
he`s not 29 like clint dempsey, at 21 / 22 your form is going to fluxuate especially if the club you grew up supporting shoves you out the door (when you are injured) and your new club hangs a £35m millstone around your neck, add to that the england manager calling him a boozer (when he was obviously working his @rse off, look at the weight he lost) and the national press calling him a hooligan, donkey and a flop. he became a figure of national ridicule.
all that would have been a lot for an experienced international to deal with never mind a 22 year old moving away from his home town for the first time.
i like the way he got his head down, worked hard and turned the situation around. at the end of last season he dominated felliani and the everton defence in 2 derby games including scoring the winner in the biggest derby game in a quarter of a century, he scored the winner when we were down to 10 men in a barnstormer of a game away at blackburn, he nearly turned around the f.a cup final with one of the most inspirational substitiute performances i`ve ever seen in a big game and a few days later destroys chelsea`s defence again at anfield leading john terry to call him `unplayable`.
why are we selling someone with that type of character and potential and bringing in a 29 year old plodder? carroll destroyed the european champions defence twice within a week!

Carroll was a poor bit of business but he isn't a '***** striker'.

Of those chances Suarez has missed, how many of those opportunities did he conjure up by himself?
Now, when have you ever seen Carroll create a goal-scoring opportunity on his own?
How is it that a player who only scored 4 goals and apparently doesn't suit into the system the manager one suddenly become such a vital cog to the machine?

So, as long as you set up chances for yourself, missing is ok?

Come on, answer those 3 questions I posted instead of avoiding them.
Why is it that there are some posters on here who are adamant that Carroll and Henderson will come good?
Apart from them being young, and being able to develop (into God knows what), what other reasons are there?

Carroll wont "come good" he is good
His performances in the last 3 months of the season proved to all those except the fools what he was capable of and I have given up trying to convince the unconvincables.
If B-Rod doesnt fancy him thats fair enough. There are plenty of others who will.
I honestly hope he doesnt come back to haunt us and I dread him doing to us what he did to chelsea twice. I really would have preferred him to have gone abroad rather than to a prem team.

Yes he was a totally different player towards the last 3 months, he seemed hungrier and more determined. I remember the Chelsea match and Terry was having a nightmare having to deal with Suarez and Carroll. I believe Carroll even nutmegged him?   :)  I guess going by some quotes from BR, the question at the end of the day is whether it represents value for money having such an expensive player on the bench. It seems very likely he'll leave, if not this season, next.

They are hardly lining up outside Anfield to sign him though even at a knock down price.

Only team interested is West Ham who were in the Championship last year with a manager
who will use him to bound about up top chasing the hoofs.

Thats all the lads got and if he had anything more he would be staying here or taking his
pick from some top clubs this week.
