sick of it

Punch Daniel Agger or Skrtel's name into your Google news feed and you'll soon see what I'm talking about. Apparently Rodgers wants to offload Aquilani, Manchester City have had 2 bids for Agger rejected and apparently Agger and Skrtel might well be seeking an Anfield exit.

The fact that Manchester and Barcelona are sniffing around Agger is cause for concern, because if I was Agger and a team like City or Barcelona came in for me, I'd be awfully tempted to move to pastures new. I don't know what clubs are interested in Skrtel, if any, but apparently he's not very happy at the club at the moment. Who knows, maybe with the right results and some much needed progression both players will remain here for the future.

If you choose to bury your head in the sand and ignore what is happening with regards to our club that's your problem, but it wouldn't surprise me if in September we are without all four players whom I have mentioned previously.

If you want a manager who knows how to play the media to a fiddle then look no further than Rafa Benitez.

I think its Newcastle or he stays for Carroll and if he does leave it will probably involve
a player exhange and cash.

I dont hink hes injured and Ba plus £10m may be a shout if the lad is happy to move
to Anfield.

Good shout 7 million peanuts in todays terms for Ba. But i think our club prefer the west ham option as newcastle with an in form carroll could be around us in 5-7 position.  Dont be surprised if spurs put in a bid Defoe plus cash.

Carrol's never been my favourite (probably never will be) but back end of last season the fella started finally to show some form and had me thinking he's at least worth a place in the squad.

Now apparently he's not gonna be given a chance to build on his upturn in form, instead he's gotta a big "for sale or loan at a knock down price" hung around his neck.

Think it's shoddy treatment of the fella , wouldn't suprise me if he moved on and started scoring for fun.

Having let him go on the cheap we'll then look like even bigger mugs than the day we f'ucking signed him.  :veryangry

Same here mate, totally baffled by it all to be honest.

What exactly are you baffled by, I have not heard LFC or Brendan come out and say they wanted to sell carroll. What I have heard is that Rodgers respects Carroll and wants to play him. I fail to see how LFC can divert the speculative press and btw it's not just us, Wenger is clearly just as annoyed at the Van Persie rumours.

Not sure why i am wasting my time replying to you, but you quoted me so i will.

Rodgers has come out and publicly stated that Skrtel and Agger are not for sale.
He has said that the club would have to consider what was in its best interests should offers come in for Carroll.

It's pretty apparant that he is a player that we are looking to sell.
Based on the fact that we have lost solid squad players like Maxi and Kuyt and look like losing another attacking player on Bellamy, the thought of losing Carroll who i personally think was playing like we wanted him to at the end of the season is baffling.

Thats the spirit !!

Seriously Boxscarf can you please post an actual quote from any of the 4 you have mentioned speaking about wanting to leave Liverpool if not leave it to the media to try to make Liverpool fans feel uncomfortable.

Don't look like he's going anywhere;
"Andy Carroll: West Ham concede defeat in chase for Liverpool striker
By Ben Smith BBC Sport

West Ham have conceded defeat in their bid to sign Liverpool's Andy Carroll.

Despite the clubs agreeing terms over a proposed £2m loan deal, the 23-year-old striker has told the newly promoted Premier League club that he has no intention of joining them.

Newcastle retain an active interest in Carroll but will not pay over the odds for the man they sold for £35m in 2011.

With the start of the new season less than a fortnight away, Carroll's future looks increasingly unclear.

The England international continues to train with the Liverpool squad as he seeks to overcome a minor groin injury".

At least not for the time being. Cant believe a week Saturday and we are underway again!!

looks like he's staying now which is good news imo. just hope his confidence isn't shot to bits.

it's hardly rocket science though. if you want him you pay the money that we want upfront. otherwise it's no deal. loaning him would have been utter incompetence and madness imo.

Who is football's fastest sprinter?

By Givemefootball .com

givemefootball.com, Mon 06 August 2012 12.18

20 million people from the United Kingdom tuned in last night to see Usain Bolt prove what we all know but some doubted; that he is the fastest man on the planet.

While the Jamaican couldn’t quite match his stunning run in the 2009 World Championships in which he produced his world record 9.58 run – instead he was forced to settle for a meagre 9.63; just an Olympic record and the second quickest time in history.

Back in Berlin, Bolt reached a scorching 27.5 miles an hour in setting his world record- can anyone from the world of football get anywhere near him?

It’s worth noting that most football speed studies should be taken with a pinch of salt; most are commissioned by sponsors like Nike looking to showcase the best talent in their stable, while others use different formulas to get to their results – meaning the results are inconsistent to say the least.

However two studies in recent years have the backing of OptaSports, the leader in football statistics and analysis so we can presume some level of legitimacy – although the results may leave you a little surprised.

What won’t leave you surprised is that of the three studies used to compile the list below, each one backed by a particular sponsor, has their own man at the top.

The results below are based on top speed achieved by players rather than their highest average speed or their 100 metres time, with the results coming courtesy of three separate studies.

Top Ten Fastest Footballers

1 – Theo Walcott – 22.72mph
2 – Sol Campbell – 22.50mph
3 – Mari Balotelli – 22.37mph
4 – Gareth Bale – 22.37mph
5 – Ashley Cole – 22.37mph
6 - Chris Smalling – 22.37mph
7 – Jack Wilshere – 22.35mph
8 – Fernando Torres – 22.27mph
9 - Didier Drogba – 22.27mph
10 – Andy Carroll – 22.24mph

And nowhere to be seen…

Cristiano Ronaldo – 20.87mph
Arjen Robben – 20.44mph
Wayne Rooney – 20.25mph
Robin van Persie – 19.94mph

So there you have it. While the overall fastest football player on the planet may not come as such a surprise – what else does Theo Walcott have if not speed? – then the remainder of the list may raise a few eyebrows.

Cristiano Ronaldo, for example, is outstripped for pace by Liverpool’s very own Andy Carroll while Sol Campbell, despite his advancing years, still has more than enough in his locker to out-pace the likes of Fernando Torres.

Jack Wilshere can barely make it onto the pitch these days but when he does is an absolute rocket; the Arsenal midfielder tops out at a remarkable 22.35 miles-per-hour to make him one of the fastest players out there.

For Tottenham fans it may be something of a surprise to see Aaron Lennon not on the list, while Manchester United fans are most likely scratching their heads as to how their fastest player is not Wayne Rooney, who is over two miles an hour slower than Chris Smalling. Antonio Valencia meanwhile doesn’t even get a look in.
The results are obviously warped by the agenda of each company behind the studies – most fans can generally agree that the likes of Theo Walcott, Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry are/were the quickest players in the game.

But in the aftermath of Bolt’s lightning performance in the Olympic 100 metres final last night, who do you think is the fastest in the game?

I can only speak for myself here, I have been critical of FSG for the first time during this summer transfer window because it seems to me that if Brendan wants to sign players he has to sell players first and if he isn't prepared to do this, then he has to resort to loaning players in. This suggests to me that this club isn't making enough revenue at the moment to fund itself and it's unlikely to change until we start getting back into the Champions League mix which doesn't look at all likely for the forseeable future, so are we locked into a vicious cycle here? It appears that FSG will respect the FFP ruling to maximum effect while teams like PSG, Man City and Chelsea continue to ignore it, all the while getting away with it and being allowed to feature in the Champions League competition.

We're heavily linked with Allen and Dempsey for a total of £25m which is what Oscar cost Chelsea, now don't tell me this club hasn't generated a grand total of £36m in revenue last season to make these purchases? If so, does it mean that all the money Kenny spent was generated through player sales? We cannot improve whilst operating ona  sell-to-buy philosophy, it brought Rafa nothing but hardship and we're paying the price of such a philosophy three years later.

If FSG want us to become a better team they need to spend a little in order to accumulate a lot of money and success.

If his name was Andres Carlos and we’d got him from Seville 99% of fans would be glad to see the back of him.
