Andy Carroll signs for West Ham

The Premiership - General Discussion

I feel sorry for Andy to an extent (hes paid well so the sympathy is tempered). He was at his hometown club, enjoying his football, palying for a side that played to his strengths, no media glare or expectation on him. Hes a 15 million pound player that excells in a team that plays direct.... then Kenny forks out 35million for him and changes his life for the worse. The Carroll signing will be Kenny's legacy in terms of his second tenure at the club. It is what essentially cost him his job.

The big man needs the team to play a certain way to excell, and he had that at Newcastle. No way will he have that with us and nor should he.

thats the crux of the matter, I want Rodgers to make the changes to get us playing like Rodgers wants us to play. It's clear Andy isn't that type of player so move him along. I like Carroll, but i wouldn't want him suffering here.

Carroll, you had your chance, you had unwavring support from Kenny and you FAILED. Bye bye.

Precisely. Ppl are fearing the future of the club because Andy Carroll doesn't feature in Rodgers plans??? Not Steven Gerrard, not Luis Suarez, not Pepe Reina... It's ANDY Carroll! Lol

If he lets Carroll go then it will be hard to see B-Rod making the impression I thought he would.
If hes prepared to let one of our best players go then he had better be working miracles because he will lose the patience of many sooner rather then later

no we're worried because it leaves us with very few options if we let him go. bellamy looks like he's off to cardiff and suarez is playing in the olympics so will miss nearly all of pre-season. we could well start the season with one fit recognised striker. when our problem last season was scoring enough goals we need to be bringing in attacking options not letting them go. i expect maxi (another goalscoring player) to leave before the deadline aswell.

I don't want him out on loan mate. If he's not the type of player that BR wants in the team, sell him, no big deal. It's not as if it's Suarez or Agger or Lucas.

Exactly you bunch of dopes. Regardless of your opinion of Carroll we are currently in no position to be releasing strikers especially not on loan.

I would be gobsmacked if we let him go, either loan or sell, without buying two strikers to replace.

explain why you believe the departure of Andy Carroll would be so detrimental to the manager and the forthcoming season
Why do you refer to the manager as B-Rod and will you afford him the patience he deserves

we all want to see a better style on the field that gets the best out of what we have.
fsg invested 35mil in carroll for the long term and now we have appointed an inexperienced manager who could prove to be way out of his depth and let him totally transform our team and we have to sit there and hope and pray he gets it right.
rodgers should not be allowed to make wholesale changes so soon untill he proves himself worthy over the course of next season.what we cant afford is to let him gut the squad to suit his vision as if he doesnt work out then once more we will be left with a depleted squad and an even bigger task.
that is why andy will only go on loan and not be sold and why there is only minimal investment this year.
the fact that rodgers hasnt seen andy train or indeed try to see if he can fit in worries me.it shows him to be stubborn and id bet that his signings will feature every week regardless of whether they perform or not.
it will take time for us to be playing tippy tappy stuff and il bet next season his tactics will be no where near as open and gung ho as swansea's was.
andy wont suffer and i hope he does dig his heels but if he does go and bags a heap of goals for a side that finishes above us then its eggy faces all around isnt it.

Rodgers knows what he needs to make this team tick, some of you on here would just rather he played Carroll in a system that Carroll can't play in? get over yersens. your all talking sh!te. let the lad go and bring in a striker or 2 that CAN play the system. patience you mugs!

How do you know Carroll can't play in a system when he hasn't even trained or played in the system ?

Lots of assumptions being made

It took Crouch years to get rid of assumptions based on his height.

Carroll has the same problem - pigeonholed

I personally don't know that but Rodgers is not a mug. He'll know Carroll's playing strengths and what his weakness's are from his Swansea days. Doing his homework when setting his Swansea team up against us. He'll have notes, he'll remember things about Carroll. it's not hard for him to find info out about a player.

come on, you aren't that daft!

From two games last season ? I hope he is going to use more than two games and actually wait to see him in training.

I can understand why some of you are underwhelmed when we see PSG buying players like Silva and Ibrahimovic for a combined fee of 62million. But those type of players are out of our reach. They are elite, belonging to the top tier of clubs in Europe. And the only way we're able to gradually compete is if the club spots some gems who aren't in the radar of the bigger clubs yet. Players like Narsingh, Yarmolenko, Kuba, Lewandowsi, Pilar, etc. If Newcastle could get 2 strikers in Cisse and Ba who proved so successful, it just shows that the talent is out there and the scouts here aren't doing a good job. Selling Carroll isn't going to be the end of the world, it's not like he was such a pivotal part of the team anyway.
