As for Rodgers - I'm perfectly entitled to my opinion and I'm certainly worried about the future with him and our owners. Rodgers has a chance and everyone will support. Just because I'm concerned and worried I will be supporting when that first game comes around. So far Rodgers hasn't proved he is good enough to a manager at our club but it's now up to him to prove that. I'm not going to justify that same opinion on here on a daily basis. We are taking a massive risk and I hope it works out.

The over reaction and high expectations are already going into overdrive - we have people comparing him to Shanks and Paisley already FFS when he hasn't even managed one game for us.

To be fair we also had the other end of the spectrum, where Hodgson was castigated before a ball had even been kicked - it works both ways. Even though Hodgson ended up being a failure, nobody knew the outcome until it eventuated. Point is, while some people 'hype' up or are even excited about Rodgers (which I am BTW), others, in similar vein had already written Roy off, it works both ways and trying to find a happy medium on a forum board is about as rare as rocking horse s.hit in all honesty.

Benny you say you are worried about the future with BR and FSG, tell me what's the alternative. should we have Moores back in charge, well if we did there would be little or no investment and we would be struggling now anyway. How about a rich sheikh like city, well all very well in the short term but whats going to happen when the new financial regs come into play, look at city, wages last year 114% of income, Chelsea highest wage bill in the PL 180million (it will be over 200m this year), its unsustainable. At least FSG are trying to run the club properly and by doing that they have taken on a young progressive mnager for the long term. Would you prefer the Chelsea way, go for the 'top rated' manager who is flavour of the month only to sack him less that a year later.

people are comparing his performance in the press conference to shankly not his whole career, and i havent heard one person compare him to paisley.
there was an air of shankly about him on friday, especially the part where he left no one in doubt about how he felt about working under a DoF.
even the echo mentioned it.
that doesnt mean he will achieve what shankly did or anywhere near it it just means that some of his mannerisms reminded people of a manager we had half a century ago.

Shankly shouldn't even be mentioned - its an overreaction to a press conference and a few articles - people getting far to far ahead of themselves

People on 5live comparing him to both the greats and stating he is ten times the manager Kenny or Rafa was !! Based on what exactly ?

Some of the things he has said are encouraging and his one season in the prem was decent but I have read people and listen to people talk about top 4 next season and titles to come straight after ?!?

I think he should have someone at the club who is proven and expirenced to help. It's ok doing it all at Swansea - it's different under Liverpool.

I don't have any concerns i will let him get on with it and support the team, what are you going to do moan and fret until the start of the season and I know dam well you would not be voicing any concerns if Rafa had been appointed

Can people no longer debate concerns without being accused of "moaning" or "writing him off"

The worst thing is the accusations are coming from people who did nothing but slate and moan about the previous manager. This place is getting worse than Rawk

Of course not I would have been delighted had Rafa come back. Point is though some people still think the clubs history means we can attract a big name European manager. We are miles of the pace and it's going to take a while to get there so we need to manage our expectations. All things considered we have a decent manager in place and we have owners that will invest in the team.

It was more generic as opposed to specific.

I do believe this is a forum for debate which is what I'm trying to do - I'm not insulting Rodgers nor slating him nor writing him off I'm just tempering expectations in line with the appointment and showing concerns about overreaction

I am on Benny with this one even if I am cautiously optimistic about Rodgers.
But also not deluded enough to expect a title challenge from him with a team finishing midtable 3 seasons in a row.
Good manager? looks like it. Mircale worker? No
