the only time i remember us pressing the ball high up the pitch this season was chelsea away in the league.

thats why we were a much more feared opposition under rafa.
we always pressed with and without the ball and i dont recall us ever being so dominated in the middle of the field under him.
in that aspect we really miss his influence but when you look at the team since his reign we have lost most if not all that mentality through player departures.we had a good team then and it only ever needed a few minor touches and we would have been one of the best in england at this time.now we are slowly becoming one of the worst with the wheels beginning to creak.we lost the best players we had and got stuck with the average ones that needed to be replaced in order to turn that team into a title winning one.

i understand that kenny has his own philosophy and methods on how to get us winning again but so far he has been let down by the players(especially the ones he signed) and to an extent the tactics and roles in which he deploys them in.
now the pressure is building on him and a loss to the bitters in the cup could very well sign his fate.
i dont believe getting rid of him will suddenly solve our problems and id rather have him here than some other leagues equivalent of brendan rodgers or worse roy hodgson.it doesnt matter as the next manager faces the same rebuilding job as the current one.chopping and changing the manager every season isnt the answer.we are on our 3rd manager in as many years and tbh i find that embarrassing enough.
he needs to given more funds in the summer and the right players and its up to him and comoli to get it better this time and id say fsg will also be heavilly involved in future deals.this season has to be put down to experience for owners, management and players and its how we move over the summer and on into next season will determine whether any lessons have been learned.
he also has one hell of a task in motivating that team till the end of the season.ive honestly never seen morale and confidence so low in a liverpool team and he needs to lift them or the vultures will gather in greater numbers.

For me the one snigle failing of this season has been evident throughout and that's our lack of bodies in the box. Such a simple thing. Every time the ball comes in from out wide we have one or two players in the box up against 6, 7, 8 and 9 defenders at a time. It happened several times yesterday and it's happened time and time again before yesterday. Why did we never adress this?

agree completely. When opponents get the ball we back off deep into our own half. Its a dreadful tactic that invites pressure.

We never push up.. and when we do win the ball back we have 10 players in our own half because we are so deep.

Both attacking and defending is affected by withdrawing and backing off.

The highest example of a team that does the opposite is Barca.. when the central defender of the opposing team has it they have attackers on top of him.. trying to win the ball back high up (as Rush would do for us in our heyday). Nowadays the opposition defenders stroll into our own half with the ball before they are challenged.

Having said that its not just tactics.. u need good players also which is where we are lacking. Spearing, Shelvey, Henderson.. players of this ilk in a Liverpool shirt is unheard of. This seasons Premiership is the weakest it has been for years, all the English teams have been outclassed in Europe and only 1 team remains..  so for us to be this poor... in a poor league... is pretty disgraceful.

Fans were calling for Roy's head and the players weren't performing as badly as the current group of players are now. Why aren't there protests in the stands for Kenny to stand down? His tactics haven't moved on since he managed Blackburn and Newcastle back in the 90's. It simply isn't good enough now.

I sure as fk would relish Benitez coming back here. Him and FSG would make a good combination. But Kenny is in charge now so we need to see what the owners do in the summer.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

In fairness I'd actually take Voronin over Carroll, as I've said before I've never seen a worse striker in a Liverpool shirt than Carroll. Also I thought most peopel thought Glen was a good player and most years we did come in the top 4 under Rafa, we seem to be missing a it by a bit under Kenny.

Sean Dundee: The worst striker I have seen in football , never mind in a Reds shirt ...contributed fuck all .
Erik Meijer Nil: Nada zilch ,and the Kop would have gladly sucked it in the net for him ....but absolute top bloke
Paul Stewart: 1 league goal ,and made Ruddock look like a model for Slimmers World
Fernando Morientes: 5 goals in 41 appearances .
Nigel Clough :3 goals in total ,although the two against the Mancs on his debut count as double .

I could in truth go on ,but I'm bored now .

Sean Dundee - cost f'k all
Erik Meijer - cost f'k all
Paul Stewart - sh't midfielder
Nigel Clough - second striker/midfield

As for Fernando Morientes... long past his best was still on a different stratosphere to the geordie yard-dog. Cost a sixth and had a better goal return.

andy carroll will go down as the worst transfer deal in british history, and almost certainly the worst transfer deal in world football history.

The 8th most expensive player ever.... 35,000,000... 35 million... thirty-five million... say that figure out loud, take it in.

Kenny Dalglish paid thirty-five million for andy carroll. No matter how many times its repeated it will never sink in. Its the most staggering statistic anyone will ever come across off the field of play.
