sums up how the media in this country slant a story to suit their agenda

The fact they have brought someone in surely suggests they plan to spend a bit of money on the first tea, that's a good thing right? The rifts at Spurs are well documented but i'm prepared to welcome him.

Impressed by the interviews with Comolli - sounds like he knows what he is talking about (which is a bonus :) ) and he has me convinced that he has the best interests of the club at heart. I agree that his appointment is as important as Roy's at the moment.

I also wouldnt be surprised if he had some input into the appointment of the new chief exec!

If we sign quality players as a result of Comolli's appointment, great. Really no one person should have a say in signings, decision by concensus is not a bad idea. Hopefully as a result we won't see any more deadwood players being bought.

Liverpool Echo 29th Nov 2010

St Etienne attack on Liverpool FC Damien Comolli
Nov 29 2010 Liverpool Echo

ST ETIENNE co-chairman Bernard Caiazzo has launched a stinging atack at former employee Damien Comolli.

Comolli was previously in charge of transfer signings at the French club but quit to become Liverpool’s director of football strategy.

But Caiazzo said: “You need some humility in football and Damien was convinced he was right 100 per cent of the time. There was never any question of dialogue.

“Damien enjoyed total power in his first year with us. His was the last word on all transfers and that is how he wanted it.

“The manager at the time, Alain Perrin, had not even seen some of the players he was given. Damien was his boss.

“His powers were much reduced in January after the failure of his transfer policy the previous summer and he was not pleased.

“I would have fired him then but my co-chairman defended him for months, even when results were poor. It was a mistake bringing him back to the club.”

It could just be a touch of sour grapes from  Caiazzo    ...but this Comolli guy likes to make all the transfer decisions by all accounts
not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing  ....however this statement is a tad worrying if true "“You need some humility in football and Damien was convinced he was right 100 per cent of the time. There was never any question of dialogue."

do Liverpool really need any more infighting behind the scenes at this club ? we certainly don't need yet another stubborn battle of egos

Kind of worrying that, especially when there was a similar story at Spurs when he and Juande Ramos were there, I trust Roy to tell him to do one if he gets to big for his boots just as long as we dont have a case where its DoF on one side with board backing and an isolated manager on the other - that spells nothing but trouble and that is something we could do without in an already sub par season.

Now swap Damien for Rafa. And the whole text becomes something different.

He seems to be an arrogant guy but I guess you need it in this kind of business. But to our new Owner, this kind of arrangement is normal in American sports. So, the owner probably won't have any problem with this unless of course his transfer record and the performance of the team is sh.it. But given that he hasn't even started recruitting anyone, he would probably be given more time meaning if anything wrong then Roy is first to go.

I was thinking along similar lines mate ...Comolli was procured by the new owners with a specific task in mind ...to find young quality additions that can boost our squad now as well as in the future .... Whose side are the owners (If personalities clash )going to come down on ? surely they are not going to admit their first acquisition for the club in securing Comolli was wrong

I don't care if he is an arrogant :censored: who walks around thinking that when he breaks wind, roses pop out of his hole.  As long as he delivers the goods, that's all that matters.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

Aquilani's agent, probably
